A few days after the Japan release date announcement for Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture's No More Heroes, we got another big news coming your way. The upcoming action adventure video game for the Nintendo Wii is coming to North America.
IGN has picked up the said news from the NA publishers of the title, Ubisoft. According to reports, No More Heroes will be coming to these shores two months after it wreaks havoc in Japan. Mark your calendars, boys and girls, that's February 2008. In case you haven't had the slightest idea of what No More Heroes is about, think Afro Samurai, only with more ranked assassins but no ranked headbands. Players get to slip their feet into Travis Touchdown's shoes, an otaku (anime fan) who is aspiring to be number one. The sandbox game will have you swinging your Wiimotes to attack with Touchdown's lightsabe... er - beam katana. Tony Key, Ubisoft's VP of marketing had this to say about the partnership: For Ubisoft, it was a perfect match up. Suda 51 and the developers at Grasshopper Manufacture are extremely talented and creative and what they have developed specifically for the Wii is an incredibly unique game for a mature audience. Ubisoft is bringing the title to the North American market because we believe there is a viable market for mature games on the Wii platform - an audience that has been underserved up to now. Also, both Ubisoft and Grasshopper Interactive promised that the North American version of No More Heroes will be its Japanese counterpart's identical twin in terms of content. Check this space for more news about the video game. And while you wait for updates, here's "Meet the Heroes" video to tide you over for the meantime. Enjoy! |

The hits just keep on coming with Day 2 of the legendary Mecca of videogames, E3, and this time it's Ubisoft strutting its stuff for all the videogaming world to see. We give you the facts and just the facts, directly from their exclusive E3 2007 Conference. The little shindig of Ubisoft's started the crowd off with casual games - namely the MyCoach series, the Petz series, and the rather revolutionary guitar simulator on the DS, Jam Sessions. They then finished up with big three bombshells, all of which with the hardcore gamer demographic's name written on 'em. More about those three later, let's tackle the casuals first. The full E3 update after the jump! |

Ubisoft recently announced that three of their Petz series: Dogz, Catz, and Horsez will be waltzing on to Nintendo Wii these holidays. For the naysayers who are saying that this isn't true, this information comes from Tony Key and is being introduced as part of the
company's expansion towards casual gaming. In addition to this, he gave word that Ubisoft will be releasing a new IP this 2008, although no specifics were given. What are these games about? It's essentially having pets on your system. You will raise, feed, and even groom the virtual animals. Hopefully, it will grow to become a happy well-rounded creature you can be proud of. What most people don't realize about this game is the fact that it is the earliest attempt at creating virtual pets. Ubisoft took the reigns of development and publishing when the company purchased the Entertainment Division of The Learning Company after they in turn had purchased Mindscape. They have been making the game ever since. All three games are targeted towards a casual audience which has become quite a powerful niche in the gaming market today. We can expect to hear more from Ubisoft regarding their further stabs into this market. |
