It's numbers time again! The latest hardware sales figures from Japan's Media Create has been release, and competition is getting tighter as the PS3 inches closer and closer to the top, needing only about a thousand more units before overtaking the long-reigning DSi.

We have a rather sizeable haul of new games this week. The cream of the crop includes such titles as Tekken 6, DJ Hero, Forza Motorsport 3, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, and that undying (not undead -- no, that would actually be cool) Petz series. A lot of games are coming out this week. A veritable rainbow of releases, if you will. If we scale it, the red part (ROY G BIV, remember?) would include big titles like Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for PSP, Borderlands, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 and FIFA Soccer 10. On the violet side (more like bruise purple, really) we have the Charm Girls Club games and another Imagine [Insert Occupation Here] release. Hit the jump and let's get this ball rolling.

Team Hana and the rest of the Imperial Capital Defense will have to sit the rest of the year out, so all you Kobu-riding fans will have to wait until 2010. Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love will not be making its initial Fall 2009 margin, so NIA America will release the game for the PS2 and the Wii early next year.

Nothing official has issued forth from the mouths of Konami representatives yet, but the Silent Hill overhaul, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (PS2, PSP, Wii), may be facing a bit of a delay. Kotaku reports that listings from online retailers GameFly and GameStop now have the game's release pegged at about a month later than the date it was originally slated for.

We now have the results for this week's Japanese hardware sales for the week of September 28 through October 4, thanks to Media Create. Stats show that PSP got a major leg up, thanks to the launch of the PSP Go, as well as the Wii, thanks to the release of Wii Fit Plus.

Here's the latest from Media Create. Hardware sales results for the week of September 21 through September 27 show the DSi still on top, with the PS3 and PS3 at a distant second.
