Sonic Spinball - Image 1Europe will be seeing three new (well, old actually) Sega titles on the Wii Virtual Console this week. All three titles also have a little "orb" theme going on, although the last one's pretty tenuous at best. Anyway, on to the titles.

First up is Sonic Spinball. It's pinball with a Sonic twist, as Sonic (who is shaped like an orb when he does that spinning thing he does so well) tries to thwart Dr.Eggman's (who is also orb-shaped!) plans by causing a volcanic eruption by removing the Chaos Emeralds used to pacify the firey mountain. Sonic Spinball launches this week for 800 Wii Points.

Next, we have Vectorman. This Sega title from the '90s features Vectorman (who's made of - you guessed it - orbs!) as he tries to bring an end to a robot war and bring peace to Earth through the use of his powers of transformation. Vectorman will be downloadable for 800 Wii Points.

Finally, we have The Story of Thor. There are no orbs in this one apart from some of the spirit attacks, but this game's American title is Beyond Oasis and "Oasis" begins with an "O", which looks like - wait for it - an orb! Well, we did say the connection was tenuous. Anyway, this action adventure title can be downloaded for 800 Wii Points. See, even the download costs all have that orb vibe!

Orb Networks - Image 1

Orb Networks is priming itself to be a main contender against Apple's Apple TV. The company has just announced that their free MyCasting software now works with the Microsoft Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii, and the Sony PS3, giving gamers the ability to bring all digital media to their TV screen without any additional costs or hardware requirements.

The free MyCasting software allows users to enjoy all digital media from their home PC, as well as online videos, on any networked device with an internet browser - be it other PCs, laptops, PDAs, mobile phones with support for streaming players, and now, next gen videogame consoles.

"There is a lot of anticipation on who will finally crack the code on opening the PC-to-TV connection - especially on what Apple TV can deliver," said Joe Costello, Chairman and CEO of Orb Networks. "That day is here and 17 million households - right this minute - can download Orb onto their home PC, then go turn on their TV, and using their game console, start enjoying any of the personal media on their PC or anything on the Web instantly - without having to purchase another gadget to make it work."

Dot.Tunes

Over at the site of the oddly named Knights of Kaos clan, there's a post that outlines the many available media solutions you can use through the Wii Web Browser.

They talk about BrowseAmp, AjaxAMP, Winamp Streaming Services, ORB Streaming Audio, Wii Media Center X, The WiiCR, and iTunes streaming tricks and solutions you can use in the Wii Browser. They also point out Jinzora, a web based PHP/Apache/Mysql/Flash Music system. They report that one of the founders of Jinzora is currently working on a Wii Compatible frontend skin.

For more detail on the the mentioned applications and a solution for ORB streaming problems, feel free to use our read-link below.

Orb

Crossbeam Studios, is set on making this action adventure game a sure fire hit among gamers. According to Crossbeam, the storyline has received some special twists. Apparently, even if the original storyline is kept, the three main characters will now have their own storyline arc. You'd have to play as each character to get Orb's whole story, which leads to only one thing - tons of replay value. Hopefully, the graphics received some loving as well. It's a little difficult to place those early screens side by side with a revamped storyline.

Gameplay is reported to include exploration, interaction, fighting magic and creation. It makes full use of the Wiimote's unique features to complete tasks in a more realistic manner like in fighting or exploration.

It will also have mini-games, side quests and bonus features upon completing certain tasks.
