The Wiikey Team has announced a brand new modchip for the Nintendo Wii. It's called Wiikey Fusion, a revolutionary modchip for the Wii with SD card capabilities. It will allow users to play backup ISOs from an SD card and from DVD. The new modchip is scheduled to be released in October. Check out the video demo after the break.

brkich has released another unofficial version of Nuke's Gecko OS, but has the approval of the folks behind the USB Gecko Nintendo Wii hacking/cheat code device. This version is packed with more features, plus a new GUI for your gaming convenience.

No need to fuss over modchip requirements. GameCube Backup Launcher's fine without it and it just got a version update. This one adds support for Freeloader and Action Replay, and as some improvements on speed performance among other things.

Wiibrew developer Wiigator is back with an update to the Wii GameCube Backup Launcher. The modchip-free backup launcher now has new bug fixes and features, including the ability to switch the game ISO for a multigame disc. Details after the link.

After quite some time, Team Twiizers' DVDX app has been given an update. DVDX allows you to run both home-burned and factory-pressed DVDs without having to spring for a modchip. This release is aimed primarily at Wii owners who are running System Menu 3.4.

An ongoing drama is brewing in the Wiibrew scene, particularly between Team Twiizers and the makers of the Argon modchip. In a nutshell, Argon is locking "homebrew solutions" into their modchip without permission from the authors, in effect selling other people's works that are already free to begin with. In their latest effort to dodge copyright claims from Team Twiizers, Argon claims that Marcan didn't even write the Twilight Hack. More idiocy in the full article.
