For most of our readers, their introduction to developer Johnny Chung Lee was his work on the headtracking mod for the Wiimote. Aside from that, Lee's also responsible for a couple of other Wiimote-based projects, such as an interactive whiteboard, which developer Bg ported to the Wii console. Details are available in the full article. Download: WiiWhiteBoard |

If any of you remember the movie Minority Report, you might remember the scene where Tom Cruise interacts with the keyboard-free, futuristic computers
using a pair of "virtual gloves" to type in commands and drag windows
while searching for the bad guys. If you think that's a little
farfetched, believe it or not, such technology might not be so far off
with a little ingenuity using your Wiimote.Check out the video of how to reproduce this cool technology right after the jump! |

Aside from Nintendo, it looks like even 3rd-party accessory manufacturers are cashing in on the Wii's health benefits. Japan's Rakuten retailer has just sent out details on a Wiimote and Nintendo DS wrist strap made from bio-ceramics that, as advertised, will douse your wrist with far infrared rays. From what we're reading from some sources (i.e., health sites, shopping catalogs), far infrared energy promotes several health benefits, such as improved circulation, and increased white blood cell count. This, in turn, could mean improved immune functions, and in the Wiimote's case, a less likely chance you'll sprain your wrist from playing too long. We're not too sure if this accessory really works (or is FDA-approved), but if you're curious enough to test this new-age peripheral, it's expected to launch in Japan on July 20, at a retail price of just ¥ 740 (US$ 6.31). |

Did you know that Codemasters' Heatseeker is actually a legit military term? It refers to a missile guidance system known as Infrared Homing. What it does is detect the heat being generated by its intended target and then homes on to it.Well, we just thought you'd like to know because the Wii version video game Heatseeker (Wii and PSP) is finally available now. Basically, the background story of this air combat simulation video game is that a terrorist act was captured live by a TV station. This attack was perpetrated by a would-be dangerous dictator that has enough military power, not to mention his advanced nuclear cache. Players come in by taking on the role of a lead peace-keeper from the International Council. We know the enemy sounds a bit tough to beat but don't worry as you have been provided by plenty of resources as well. There's a total of 35 unique jet fighters available for you and that's not including each class' variant. Players can also choose from 60 different weapon packs that include radar-guided missiles and rocket propelled torpedoes among others. Furthermore, there are more than 18 land and sea based missions to complete and all battles will take place across the U.S., off the coast of South America, over Antarctica, and even into the Far East. Again, this Heatseeker release is both for platforms Wii and PlayStation 2 (PS2) in UK. The PlayStation Portable (PSP) version will be release in May for UK and North America, alongside the two other mentioned platforms. |

Well, there's nothing really revealing during the interview. We reported about the Fusion system before, and you guys had a lot to say about it. In this SPOnG interview, In2Games Director Harry Holmwood reveals a few more details regarding the system that SPOnG audaciously calls, "a potential Wii killer." We, know, some of you Ninty fans are already going, "Wii killer?! How dare they!" Well, be patient, let's see what Holmwood had to say, and then let's see if SPOnG's claim is justified. And just so you know, they're talking the death threats against them lightly, and with a positive sense of humor. Holmwood says: one
kind soul emailed us to say (and I quote) "I really hope your company
burns to the ground and you are all homeless one day" ...It's nice to
know that 'platform passion' still lives on. I have fond memories of
arguments along those lines when I was at school. With that over, let's go to the details. Here we go. Nintendo Copyists?! His response to all the allegations that they're "Nintendo Copyists?" Well, he says that they were there first. Of course he notes that he would never accuse Nintendo of having copied them. He says that Wii Eliott and Steve were making tilt controllers way back in the mid-90s before discounting them for the experiences that they think gamers will really want in the long term. Here's a technical comparison between the Wiimote and their Fusion technology in Holmwood's own words:
