Here's a new video clip for Bleach: Shattered Blade taken from the recent Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) 07. It's around six minutes long with the first few moments spent on Sega representatives introducing the game. But with a franchise such as Bleach, we believe that no introduction is necessary.

Anyway, Shattered Blade was just recently announced alongside its DS brother Bleach: The Blade of Fate. This particular entry to the franchise focuses the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki who has the power to see spirits from the afterlife including warriors called Shinigami.

Anyway, just enjoy the video below and don't skip the introduction part because you might learn a thing or two from there. Bleach: Shattered Blade will be available in early 2008.

Bleach fans in Europe have a couple of reasons to be happy as Sega just announced two new titles based from the animated series. The new video games are namely Bleach: Shattered Blade and Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the Wii and Nintendo DS respectively.

This time, the Bleach storyline follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki who has the power to see spirits from the afterlife, including warriors called Soul Reapers. Our main hero meets female dead warrior Rukia and received her powers. Kurosaki is then tasked to continue Rukia's mission of defeating the enemies known as Hollows.

"The content of the Bleach story lends itself perfectly to an action packed arcade fighting game with a heavy dose of mighty sword battles. Both the flexibility of the Wii and the portability of the DS have allowed us to bring the intense action of Bleach to a wide variety of gamers," commented Sega European Marketing Director Gary Knight.

The following are some of the features specific to each title. Both will be released during the early part of 2008.

Bleach: Shattered Blade
  • Enables players to wield the Wiimote and Nunchuk as their weapons - slashing, jabbing, and lunging in furious battles like a real Soul Reaper
  • Exclusive storyline created specifically for the Wii with 32 characters to choose from
  • Once a new character is unlocked, players can replay the story episodes utilizing the characters special moves and weapons adding a whole new perspective to the storyline
More features and screenshots after the jump!

Bleach

December 14 is looming closer, and we sure can't wait for Bleach Shiraha Kirameku Rondo's release. Yep, come its launch, we can finally take our dreams of being shinigamis a tad higher as we get to swing our zanpakutos with the Wiimote, and roleplay tons of the manga/anime characters to our hearts' content.

For those who are not familiar with the the game, let me brief you a bit first. Bleach is a popular manga and anime series (both are still ongoing, by the way) made by Tite Kubo. It revolves mainly on the exploits of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school who has the ability to see ghosts, who eventually becomes a shinigami ("Soul Reaper"/ "Death god"). As the story unfolds, we discover more about the "Soul Society", where souls get transported to, post-mortem. Thus, we get to see more of the shinigami (and we mean tons here), where 25 of them are featured in the game.

I think Bleach's appeal lies not only on the interesting story, but on the equally engaging characters as well. All of them of course have their own quirks, but watching their own powers unfold is enough to keep me glued to the tube for hours. Anyway, before I bore you to death, let me give you a nice serving of Sega's Bleach Shiraha Kirameku Rondo screens.

Bleach

In just a matter of days, Sega has been able to update their Bleach website once again with much more content. Now, there's a whopping 14 characters with profiles you can view. Err. That's if you can read Japaneses. However, thou shalt not fret, dear kindred spirit. They have short videos also, featuring the character's battle moves and whatnot. If you still haven't seen some of them from last week, now's the chance to catch up.

We've noticed that there's still more than a handful of "silhouetted" characters in the grid that aren't activated yet. While December 14 is edging closer to us than the underworld is encroaching Ichigo Kurosaki, we're sure more of these characters are going to be opened up for public viewing in time.

Anyways, if you can blunder your way through the Japanese in the site, there's other content from before in the other sections. Being a flash-based website, Google translate isn't much of a help this time. Needless to say, the Bleach fans are still going to enjoy the new media here.

Check it out for yourself. The "Read" link below leads to their official website.

bleach screen

Japanese 15-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki is the main character of Bleach, a game based on comics originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga and anime series has gone to far-reaching heights of success, with the tv anime being shown in three countries and the comics having 243 chapters published all in all and still counting.

The game follows the life of Ichigo Kurosaki as he and death god Rukia Kuchiki search for evil spirits and perform soul burials. Throughout their adventures, they also cleanse the spirits that they encounter along the way and help them get to the world of gods of death on the "other side" called Soul Society. Strikes your fancy? Sadly, we're gonna have to wait till December for this game to come out on Wii. We have no info yet as to how the Wii features will enhance the game, but feel free to share with us whatever thoughts you have.

Sega has put up the teaser site for a Bleach game for the Wii. The site shows nothing but "Sega X Bleach" and a silhouette of main character Ichigo Kurosaki in his Bankai form. With so little information available to date, it's hard to say if the game will be a follow-up to the GameCube’s 2.5D fighter Bleach GC: Tasogare Ni Mamieru Shinigami, or a completely new game. The GameCube version is primarily a weapon-based fighting game reminiscent of 2.5D fighters like Project Justice and Samurai Showdown 64.

Thanks to the The One-Winged Angel for the heads up.
