Homebrew coders Scip, Rodries and the rest of the MPlayer CE team has released a new update for the excellent Wiibrew media player application based on MPlayerWii and GeeXboX. The latest update of MPlayer CE is quite a hefty one with lots of new and improved features.

Homebrew coder Marc has released a new update for Dop-IOS, a system tool for the Wii that lets you download and install any IOS from Nintendo servers. The latest update has added new features and some more tweaks.

Hermes released an upgraded for his fun Wiibrew game, Guitarfun, now placing it nicely at version 3.5. The Guitar Hero clone's latest version debuts some improvements such as the use of USB devices or SD. Wiibrew developer Hermes has released an update to WiiEngine, an emulator of the classic PC Engine and Turbo Grafx 16 systems for the Wii. Major updates in this version as it now supports several new compression formats, as well as ISOs. There are new features you won't want to miss as well. Details after the link.

MPlayer seems to be the name of the game this week in the Wiibrew community. Not long after the latest release of GeeXboX, developer fcorbier has released a new version of his media player for the Wii, MPlayerWii. This version gets a speed boost on reading USB devices, and added support for the classic controller.

A new version of Hermes' Guitarfun homebrew game has been released. In case you haven't been keeping up on it, Guitarfun is a Guitar Hero clone similar to Frets on Fire. This release features the addition of USB support courtesy of coder rodries.

Well, it's no wonder Team Twiizers is so secretive with their codes. Wiibrew dev waninkoko explains that his reasons for initially dropping his ISO loader project wasn't because of the leak, but because of "all the people downloading it, sharing it, making tutorials, and such."

Wiiengine for the Wii console has been upgraded to version 1.3. But even before we can put up that update, another one comes along from Hermes, thereby updating it now to version 1.4. See the changelog after the jump.

If you're looking for some old-school gaming fun, then developer Hermes has just the thing for you. A PC Engine homebrew emulator for the Nintendo Wii was recently released, making use of the console's unique controls and other peripherals. More details about Wiiengine 1.2 in our full article.
