The Wii version of Samba de Amigo has finally been announced by Sega. This official announcement comes after the company confirmed the game's existence late last month.First released in arcades and on the Sega Dreamcast in 1999 by Sonic Team, Samba de Amigo helped shape today's rhythm music genre. In the Wii version, the Wiimote and Nunchuk controllers take the place of the original's maracas controllers, with players shaking them in time with the visual beats of the music on-screen. Samba de Amigo for the Nintendo Wii home video game console is currently being developed by Gearbox Software. More details about the game, including a track list and a few special features, are expected to be revealed in the coming months. Samba de Amigo for the Wii is slated for a Spring 2008 release. |

The console versions of Ubisoft's highly-anticipated multiplatform title Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) are still on track for their November release, but PC gamers waiting to give it a go on their gaming rigs will have to wait a little longer.According to a report from Shacknews, Ubisoft has announced that the PC version of Assassin's Creed will be hitting retail in early 2008. This was revealed in a recent Ubisoft announcement about the company's holiday lineup. In other Ubisoft-related news, the release of the Wii title Brothers in Arms: Double Time also looks to be a bit shaky as the game wasn't included in the Ubisoft announcement. This comes after both the PC and console versions of Gearbox Software's Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3) were pushed back to a release date sometime from January to March of next year. |

Although it is only now that rhythm-based video games are gaining momentum and a following among gamers, the genre is not at all new as several titles of this nature had been released in past consoles. Among those is Samba de Amigo which is now being rumored to make an outing on Nintendo Wii. The said rumors went full swing when one gaming site got hold of the next issue of Nintendo Power and revealed that a sequel is being prepared. Well, Sega of America has just confirmed the rumors and mentioned that more information will be released soon. Samba de Amigo first appeared in 1999 on Sega Dreamcast. Gameplay involves shaking the maracas-like controller to match a series of pattern on the screen. While the Wiimote can pose as a maracas itself, it is curious if the sequel's developer Gearbox Software is planning to come up with a new controller. |
