Looks like the gaming industry won't be having a silent night this Christmas. If last week weren't testament enough, it's nothing but big news after big news topping one another. Time to spread some Christmas cheer!

Whew! Too many games, too little time! QuickJump QuickPeek 21 is rounding up news from this week - "this week" here, A.K.A. "Assassin's Galaxy Crysis Ops+ week". Ok, that's probably forcing it. Let's just let it slide for now, shall we? From last week's QuickPeek, let's roll out!

Keyboard functionality has finally been added to the Nintendo Wii video game console. This confirmation comes after reports of the Wii team considering the addition of a keyboard peripheral surfaced.

Support for USB keyboards was included in the latest firmware for the Wii. According to IGN, Wii owners can use USB keyboards within the Wii Shop Channel to enter game titles in the search box. It can also be used to write memos and mail on the Wii Message Board.

For now, keyboards can't be used in the Internet Channel. This feature is expected to be added within the next few firmware updates.

A few days back, we talked about the newest modchip on the Wii block called WiiD. The WiiD modchip will of course be blessed with the D2B-DVD chip support and firmware upgradability via DVD. In the comments section, some found it to be good news but of course there are some who are skeptical about it. And with the emergence of the possibly fake Wiikey chips, nobody could blame them.

But for it to be official, the WiiD website was recently opened. Although everything in it we already knew about WiiD, the folks behind it promise to update us with availability info, installation diagrams, and firmware updates. Just in case you didn't read our last report, again, here are the features of the WiiD modchip:
