Back in October, Paul W.S. Anderson shared that production for the
long-planned Castlevania movie adaptation will soon go full swing. Prior to all this, it was believed that the story of the Castlevania
movie project will revolve around a knight from Transylvania hiding
from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. Well, you can all forget about that as the official plot of the movie has just been revealed. The plot after the jump! |

While giving way to Sylvain White as the director for the Castlevania movie adaptation, Paul W.S. Anderson remains part of the project as a producer. In a recent interview, Anderson shared that the Castlevania movie's shooting will likely begin in a couple of months. This is because they want the script to be done before the impending writer's strike. "I'm hoping to get a script for it in two or three weeks. And I'm hoping it's great. Sylvain White is directing it, and we're hoping to kind of make it a pre-strike movie. So it kind of shoots in the next couple months," said Anderson. It was reported a while ago that Rogue Pictures wanted a complete overhaul to the Castlevania script. According to earlier reports, the previous plot of the planned Castlevania movie revolved around a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. The video game franchise Castlevania from Konami first appeared in 1986 on the platform Famicom Disk System. |

Some of you may still remember the days when 16-bit consoles were the height of video gaming history. Before the PlayStation and even the SNES came into being, Hudson Entertainment had already developed the Turbo CD system which proudly bore the title of being the first video game console in North America to have a CD-ROM peripheral. In an interview with Hudson Entertainment VP of Sales and Marketing John Lee announced that Hudson will be porting the Turbo CD system onto the Wii's Virtual Console service. Now gamers can relive the good old days with a bit of nostalgia thrown in as they play games from this fun, if somewhat underrated, console. The Turbo CD system will definitely be getting the better end of the deal as the port will improve most of the old problems the system had, such as slow loading times and a bigger capacity for storing games. The company also employed an improved compression for its games' sounds so players will be able to squeeze in a few extra megabytes of fun-filled, old school platformers. When asked what games Hudson will be including in the Virtual Console shift of the Turbo CD system, Lee had this to say: We take a look at consumer demand, licensing issues, as well as market fit. Thus far, we have only announced a few games, which include Super Air Zonk, a sequel to the all out crazy Air Zonk game featuring enhanced CD quality music and all new levels. In addition we also announced Gate of Thunder, the award-winning shooter that has been on the top of our fans' most requested list for some time. Hudson was known for making some truly intense shooters back in the day, and these games are the pinnacle of that era. Hudson will also be looking into including Japanese-exclusive games such as Dracula X: Rondo of Blood and Ys IV: Dawn of Ys. Lee said they will be taking a look at whether the market for both games will enough for them to get them translated for the port, although he recognizes the fact that these games have already caught the attention of gamers in the States. Other games of note such as old TurboGrafx favorites Splatterhouse and R-Type will also be finding themselves on the Wii's Virtual Console soon. Although Hudson is looking into porting their other games from the short-lived SuperGrafx console and the SNES, Lee said they will be concentrating on the Turbo CD system for the time being. |

A development has just happened for the upcoming movie adaptation of the successful video game franchise Castlevania. According to horror film website Bloody-Disgusting, Paul W.S. Anderson is no longer part of the project as the director "wanted to focus" on his remake of Death Race. What happens now to the movie Castlevania? According to the said website, the new director is going to be Sylvain White and the whole script is being revamped by Ian Jeffers. One of White's latest projects is the movie Stomp the Yard while Jeffers is mostly known for his adaptation of Death Sentence featuring the actor Kevin Bacon. It should be remembered that Paul W.S. Anderson mentioned back in March of this year that he will remain actively involved in the movie adaptation no matter what happens because he has grown attached to it. It is still unclear as of now whether Rogue Pictures would want to retain some of Anderson's ideas for Castlevania. To help you decide if this development is a good thing or not, be informed that part of Anderson's plot for the movie adaptation includes a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle. |

Both Konami's Castlevania II: Simon's Quest for the Wii Virtual Console and Lucasarts' Indiana Jones 2008 have already been rated by the ESRB. We'll probably see the former before the latter, but it's nice to have the knowledge that both games will be coming out soon. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest takes place seven years after the first installment. Simon falls under a curse cast by Dracula in his death throes and the minions of the lord of the night have begun to manifest themselves once again. Simon must once again rely on his whip and reflexes to defeat all the creatures of the night and collect the pieces of Dracula to end the curse. This game can be considered a classic in its own right, and one that this blogger can whole-heartedly recommend. Be sure to watch out for its arrival on the Wii Virtual Console. Not much information on Indiana Jones 2008 for the PSP, but it might be a tie-in to the fourth movie being directed by Steven Spielberg. The chance to wear a Dr. Jones' brown fedora and sling a whip should be enough reason to at least give this game a look. With these new releases upcoming, it's a whippingly great time to be a gamer. When more news about both games come out you can be sure that we'll be posting them here, so don't forget to keep checking back. |
