Child's Play by Penny Arcade - Image 1Penny Arcade's Child's Play, a five-year-old fundraising outfit that started out dedicated only to the Seattle Children's Hospital, has now evolved into a full-time charity drive.

Child's Play is now extending its reach throughout North America and five countries. Major online retailer Amazon is also giving Child's Play a boost-up by letting participating hospitals create wishlists of items to give to children.

Metroid Prime Wii - Image 1Self-professed hardcore Metroid Prime fan? If so, then you can't afford to miss this: the Samus Metroid mod for the Nintendo Wii, perfect for playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Decked out in Samus's colors (red, orange, green), this sleek baby comes with the Wiimote and Nunchuk, and also has a handy Wiimote charger integrated into the Wii stand.

Console modder Ramon applied painstaking care to detail, making sure that everything fits the Metroid motif. Even the four player blue indicator lights were changed into green to go with the Metroid color palette.

Of course, the most striking feature of the mod is the Metroid logo attached to the side of the Wii console. It's looking pretty sexy and sleek, if we do say so ourselves.

The current bid for this neat Wii mod as of this writing is US$ 511.78, and there's only four days left for possible bidders to fight over this one-of-a-kind console. 15% percent of the proceeds will be donated to Penny Arcade's Child's Play Charity.

Nintendo's never been shy when it comes to contributing to charity. Before, they were known for their support of the Press Start Children's Foundation. The Press Start began in 2004, when the organization run by Drew Matthews, Derek McCrone, and Daniel Ryan made a single Nintendo GameCube donation to the McMaster Children's Hospital for the holiday season.

Taking a cue from the non-profit organization that good will is always good, Nintendo's made a huge delivery to Penny Arcade's Child's Play. Take a gander at those extra Nintendo DS Lites they've got:

The folks at Penny Arcade note that they'll be sending the stuff to hospitals as soon as they can.

Despite some folks thinking that this is basically a PR move from Nintendo, you can't argue with the fact that a lot of kids will be happy with this. Good will is always good PR.

autographed by Reggie - Image 1

The Penny Arcade Child's Play charity has already amassed over US$ 1-million. But for the warm-hearted crowd out there, there will always be room for more charity lovin'. Gabe and Tycho sure know how to spread some cheer.

Last year's Child's Play auction event featured a Wii console autographed by Reggie Fils-Aime, and now, it's found its way onto eBay. This doesn't seem to be the same unit that was up for bidding during December's event, and we're guessing it's a new one that Penny Arcade was able to grab hold of.

The first bid for this certain unit was on January 22 for just US$ 5. Now, it's currently running at over US$ 1,000. Talk about a fierce auction streak. We're not sure how high this can actually go, but there's still five more days left to place in your bid. Between now and January 29, we're expecting it to go much higher.

Those beneficiary children's hospitals are sure to be lucky with more donations coming in from Gabe and Tyche. Check out the "Read" link below to keep tabs on the item.

Don't this make you feel good inside?

Let the warm and fuzzy feelings from the holidays just gone by continue! Gabe and Tycho are glad to report that their cup runneth over! (*Sniffle*) Anyway, what we wanted to say was that the total contributions to Child's Play from generous and golden-hearted gamers everywhere have topped the US$ 1,000,000.00 mark, for a grand and tidy sum of US$ 1,024,000 in donations. Now let's see how many PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii bundles that would buy for every participating hospital, or perhaps it's going to be a PSP or DS in every kiddie hospital room.

Quite a limit breaker, and one should consider that the bar was at around half a million greenbacks at the beginning of December. That's double the money in just one month! And as the bar is filled out, chime in the Final Fantasy victory and level-up themes, as there will be a next year, and perhaps the next challenge would be to raise two million dollars this time?
