Wario - Image 1Some recent evidence posted by Wiibrew developer Bushing has revealed that Nintendo may now be charging an extra fee for repairing a homebrew-capable Wii. It's long been generally believed that homebrew voids warranties, but the issue here seems to be the huge additional repair costs, not the fact that a homebrew-enabled Wii is considered out of warranty. More after the jump.

Wii homebrewAs you may know, the original app (from tona) allows you to delete some titles on your Wii - IOS files, MIOS, system channels, the lot of them. Red Squirrel's most recent AnyTitle Deleter MOD v3.0 has a bunch of improvements, including a backup function to safekeep your installed items.

Hackers: Nintendo disabled Wii DVD functionality - Image 1 Thanks to the efforts of the Wiibrew community, DVD playback is now possible on the Wii (albeit it has to be modded), which brings us back to the question, why wasn't it already possible in the first place? Well, it was. Nintendo just disabled it.

Nintendo Wii underground updates - Image 1In the wake of homebrew developer Waninkoko's Region Changer, the homebrew community revolving around the Nintendo Wii turned to a classic Mexican standoff. On one side, there's Marcan and Bushing calling developer Waninkoko "irresponsibile" regarding the questionable release of a semi-bricking homebrew process. On the other is Waninkoko and allies, who believe that lack of warning was an honest mistake, and the irresponsibility is an oversight. Get to the full story for more.
