Taking the spotlight in this week's edition of our On Shelves post, the 2K Sports baseball franchise returns in The Bigs 2, which is now out in stores and waiting to be bought by baseball and sports game fans. The Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, and Wii release is accompanied by this Opus Launch trailer, which you can catch after the jump.

Minus the digital downloads, this has to be one of the smallest batches we've seen on On Shelves. Talk about a dry batch - no AAA titles in this lineup. Anyway, there's still ArmA II for the PC if you're a die-hard FPS fan, or if you're a baseball fan, 2K Sports' The Bigs is also coming out this week. It seems like Sony has done it again as the PlayStation Portable has once again dominated the sales charts in Japan for yet another week. On the flip side of things, five new video game titles have wedged themselves into the top slots of the software market. Like in the UK, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has yielded its place after only a week on top spot in the Japan software charts. Welcome to our first ever edition of the Wii Weekend Warrior, where we talk about the latest news and updates for Nintendo's motion-sensing brainchild. The Wii scene's rumbling as E3 nears, and it looks like Wii gamers will have their hands full for the rest of the year! Quite a good time to start off this blog's Weekend Warrior, if I do say so myself.

Seems like Ninty doesn't want to wait till E3 to spill the beans about its new games. Nintendo has released details and release dates for several of its upcoming games for the Wii and the DS, including Mario Super Sluggers and Wario Land: Shake It! Details in the full article.

It seems like Nintendo is still enjoying its lead for this week's software sales list in Japan as the numbers from Media Create showed Mario Kart Wii topping the charts once again. Capcom's own Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G maintained its place in the second slot. The other contenders are trying to catch up to these two, while some have dropped straight off the list.
