Japanese horror film director Takashi Shimizu is apparently working on a new Wii horror game called The Feel with AQ Interactive. Shimizu will serve as the game's "horror adviser". No word yet on an overseas release, but as long as Nintendo's not the one handling the publishing (I still
curse them in my sleep) then there's still a chance that this could get one since they can use the whole "From the director of
The Grudge" angle to sell it. More details and some scans after the jump. |

This gameplay video's title is very much appropriate. If you've watched the "Hajime no Ippo" anime, read the manga, or just fancied being a boxing sensation like Makunouchi Ippo, you'd want to watch this clip.
The Boxing Sensation Gameplay video taken from Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution focuses on how the boxer probably became a sensation in the field of boxing. It shows Ippo's humble beginnings as he was introduced by boxing champ Takamura Mamoru to the Kamogawa Gym members. The video also shows Ippo's second match with Miyata Ichiro where Ippo wins "by one centimeter". And all "Hajime no Ippo" fans know that this match fueled the rivalry between the two boxers. Ippo's one-two combination is shown in the match, as well as his deadly uppercut. The video also shows his initial training with Takamura where he was asked to grab 10 falling leaves from a tree before they reached the ground. Ah, Ippo's beautiful jabs... Watch the clip and see what we're talking about. You can check out our previous posts for gameplay details on AQ Interactive's Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution for the Wii. The game's already been released in Japan, and although there wasn't any announcement about the game's release in North America and Europe, we're free to hope that it arrives in this side of the world. For now, let's just enjoy the video. |

Hajime no Ippo's latest trailer certainly has us smiling. Not only does playing the game look intense in this trailer; they also took the time to get real boxers to try the game out.
You read that right. They got real Japanese boxers to try AQ Interactive's game out, and you can see them trying out their own fighting styles against the computer with the help of the Wiimote and Nunchuk. Strangely enough, it also equalizes the chances of each fighter playing the game, since no matter the gender or age of the player, it'll take skill to outmaneuver your opponent in the game while the computer takes care of the power your in-game boxer gets. In any case, here's the trailer for you. Expect the game to come out this June 21 in Japan. Enjoy! |

Hajime no Ippo fans, we've got more screens coming your way, thanks to Famitsu. This time, however, we've got a few hints on how the game modes will turn out. But since we're still missing our in-house translator and are using the weblator, we're not really so sure in how to go about it (describing the game's protagonist as "Itagaki fighting potatoes" should give you a hint of the translator's accuracy). A new gameplay method has been confirmed: players can now opt to use the "classic controller" instead of the Wiimote. Famitsu also describes the controls, like pressing A and B button to do right or left hooks, and can be combined with the D-pad to change the direction of the blows; basically it lets players control the boxer in as much the same way as previous Hajime no Ippo games. Then there is the Story Mode, which will cover the events of the "Hajime no Ippo" manga up to Volume 78 (that's quite a lot). You either play as the manga's protagonist, Ippo Makunouchi, or newcomer Manabu Itagaki, who specializes in outboxing, and whose fighting style emphasizes speed. His special move makes opponents undergo slow motion, which lets him deliver more blows to the opponent. The Story Mode has animation cutscenes interspersed in-between bouts. Our weblator says something like, "With cut-in demonstration, conversation and the like with the opponent is developed with full voice." This may mean that the cutscenes will be given a full voice-over treatment, as well. Nice treat for Hajime no Ippo fans, indeed. Famitsu also shows the Tutorial Mode, where Hajime's coach Kamogawa trains you on how to deliver those punches using the Wiimote. The fact that he's shown holding the Wii mote instead of wearing gloves just puts a cool touch into the tutorial, don't you think? Ippo's rival, Ichiro Miyata, is also introduced, but he's just there with Ryo Mashiba because of a scene from the manga and anime. Well, stay tuned to QJ as we get more information on AQ Interactive's boxing gem for the Nintendo Wii! Many thanks to kcsega, who helped a lot in with translation! More screenshots after the jump! |

Here are some more images of the different fighting styles that you will see in AQ Interactive's Hajime No Ippo title for the Wii. Key to that knock-out punch would be the proper accumulation of the "shooting skill gauge" (thanks to Google translate -- you know what that means: may be inaccurate), which will tell you when is the perfect time to unleash that gloved killing machine. So, for all you boxer-wannabes out there, take a good hard look at these screens, cos you just might pick up a thing or two about getting that one-two footwork right, along with getting that resounding punch -- hopefully, not on your face, but on your opponent's. More action-packed screens after the jump! |
