Zune 2 is CNET' most wanted for week ending October 28 - Image 1CNET has just released the poll results for their top 20 most wanted products for the week ending October 28. And from the looks of it, Microsoft's getting a pick-me-up as their upcoming Zune 2 media player pulls ahead of the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 to first place. From an ugly duckling to a swan, indeed.

Getting into specifics, the Zune 2.0 player (available only in black) will carry a new iPod-style Zune pad, a 3.2-inch screen, and a set of downloadable features that are expected to be available come this fall. And while Sony has already made plans to phase out their 60 GB PlayStation 3 by the end of this year, the polls indicate that it's still on shoppers' wish lists at third place.

Other notables we spied in the list were the Apple iPhone, which got fifth place, and the recently released black PSP Slim, which was at eleventh place.

Toys R Us - Image 1For those who have been hunting for a Wii until now, well it looks like you might want to start gearing up for a shopping trip on February 11. According to Jeremy of DigitalSomething.com, he managed to get hold of a brochure that is yet to be sent out by Toys R Us. The circular basically contains details for an upcoming sale, but what caught his eye was an ad for a Wii bundle.
  • Wii bundle. Priced at US$ 299.97, the bundle is supposed to contain the Wii system, a Wii starter kit, as well as a copy of Rayman Raving Rabbids.
  • DS Lite bundle. Another bundle costs US$ 139.97 and contains a DS Lite system, a pink or black starter kit, and a choice of either Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses or Tony Hawk Downhill Jam.
  • Jeremy also mentions that Toys R Us will be throwing in a US$ 50 gift card for every purchase of an Xbox 360 or a Microsoft Zune.
Because of the upcoming sale, Jeremy is also suggesting that Toys R Us may be sitting on whatever stock they have for the Wii and the DS until February 11.

I see you...not!While we like the influx of interesting third-party gadgets that follows every new console launch, there are times that we have to sit back, take a deep breath, and go, "You gotta be kidding."

For those wondering what's caught our fancy, we're talking about 22Moo's Ultra-Light i-Vision video eye-wear, which is apparently compatible for the Xbox 360, Wii, iPod Video and Zune. And for those wondering what exactly this long-named device is, it's basically a pair of monitors attached to an eyeglass frame - the whole thing resembles something between a VR helmet, Nintendo's Virtua Boy, and La Forge's visors. Could this be a spin-off of another helmed horror?

The set comes in three different version:
  • i-Vision 230 - 35-inch display, 320 x 240 resolution, 72g, $250 USD.
  • i-Vision 922 - 48-inch display, 640 x 480 resolution, 84g, $350 USD.
  • Argo+PC VGA video glasses - compatible with a PC, Mac, PDA, and any device which carries AV or VGA output.
Yeah, we know - we just realized that the cheapest set is gonna hack off as much money as a Wii bundle, which brings us to our next thought: the fact this doohickey works with a Wii. We've already seen the broken TVs, shattered windows, and sudden killings that have been following the Wiimote's strap...now we're blindfolding them?

Hmm, we're thinking there are two ways to make the gadget work: Either master your force abilities while blinded as Luke did in Episode 4, or just get ocular implants - worked for La Forge.
