The shotgun is a staple weapon in the Resident Evil series - Image 1Have you ever wondered exactly how realistic those video game firearms really are? Video games such as Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 promise at least some measure of realism, but how exactly do the weapons measure up to the real thing?

Fortunately, Philippe Therein and Phil Bossant have some answers for those of you who must know. They're available in the full article, right after the jump.

Game Developers Conference 2008 - Image 1 As most of us know, Ubisoft is not all about AAA titles of Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed. In an interview at the Game Developers Conference 2008, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat stated that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata even gave the company a pat on the back by saying Ninty treats Ubisoft Montreal as an internal team. Ubisoft Montreal CEO - emotional games; casual and Wii games coming - Image 1Bambi, Evanescence, and video games. Bet you can't find the connection. At the DICE Summit, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat presented a video featuring Bambi clips set to an Evanescence track in order to demonstrate how games aren't all about the technology. Rather, technology is simply a tool to express a message, one that produces an emotional response from the gamer. More on this in the full article.

Dubious Videogame Awards - Image 1There are video game awards, and then there are video game awards. This particular video game awards feature is probably of the latter, but with a lot of good-natured irreverence thrown into the mix. While it would have been easier for us to just make an article about our favorite games (and we did), we felt that the gaming year of 2007 had a lot to offer, and thus we're giving credit (and blame) where it's due.

Check out the winners in the full article.

Jade Raymond - Image 1

We all know that the Nintendo Wii doesn't sport as much muscle under the hood as its bigger, tougher brothers, the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. But Ubisoft Entertainment's own Jade Raymond, one of the minds behind the recently-released video game Assassin's Creed (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, PC), thinks that the next-gen title can be made to come over to the Nintendo Wii - that is, after a few cosmetic changes here and there.

This bit of news comes from a recent interview with the producer, one that talks about Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed and what was it like being at the helm of it. The topic of course inevitably shifts to Assassin's Creed making the jump to other consoles, and it's when Shigeru's motion-sensing console of joy is brought up. Jade Raymond gave this response:

It would be possible, if we completely changed the gameplay, just like the DS-version. But it wouldn't be the same experience. Unfortunately, it hasn't got the same power as the PS3 and 360.

She also mentions that the development team would have considered the Nintendo Wii as another console to release the title on, had it been more powerful.

While it's certainly no confirmation that a Wii version is in the works, it certainly gives one hope. After all, they managed to get it on the Nintendo DS, didn't they? If they could squeeze the Assassin's Creed experience into a handheld, then there'd be no reason for them not to be able to make it for the Wii. Fingers crossed, in any case.
