Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the Sega Genesis system - Image 1North America's Virtual Console updates today with three more titles for the taking: NES Play Action Football (PAF), Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Neutopia II.

The first title, NES PAF, should be familiar with the NES fans for being one of the more immersive football sims on their choice console. The game features an isometric viewpoint that gives it a near-3D feel, as well as rendered voice cues from the game's referees. NES PAF is rated E, will support up to four players, and will cost 500 Wii Points.

Next up is Sonic the Hedgehog 3, of Sega Genesis fame. This third installment of the Sonic franchise pits our favorite speed-demon of a hedgehog against Knuckles the Echidna, guardian of Angel Island's Master Emerald. And as you've guessed, Dr. Robotnik (aka Eggman) is back in this high-speed platformer once again to collect the Chaos Emeralds to rebuild his recently crashed Death Egg. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is rated E, will support two players, and will cost 800 Wii points.

The last title available for purchase is Neutopia II, originally for the TurboGrafx 16 system. Play as Jazeta's son in this action RPG, which provides for plenty of puzzles and secrets to solve. Neutopia II rated E, will support one player, and will cost 600 Wii points.

Neutopia II - Image 1Here's a bit of an early update on what's coming to the U.S. Virtual Console service on Monday. According to Hudson's Virtual Console site, Neutopia II will be among the classic titles that will be released on the September 10 VC update.

Neutopia II is a TurboGrafx 16 title set in a land called, appropriately enough, "Neutopia". Peace was restored to Neutopia through the efforts of Jazeta, who has gone missing after going off to investigate rumors of a rising evil. Players take control of Jazeta's son, going through labyrinths in search of his father and, ultimately, to save the world.

Puzzle fans will have a lot of puzzles to solve and hidden secrets to uncover in this action RPG. Players can overcome obstacles by moving blocks and rocks, or by blasting down walls with bombs. Armor and weapons can also be upgraded, with stronger items automatically becoming equipped once they are in a player's possession.

Neutopia II will be available on Monday for 600 Wii Points. You can learn more about the game by clicking on the Read link below.

Adventure Island - Image 1It's time once again for an update on the new titles for the Nintendo Wii home video game system's Virtual Console feature. As usual, we have four classic titles coming to the U.S. VC this week. Here they are:
  • Adventure Island (500 Wii Points) - It's Master Higgins' first outing on the NES! This one-player side-scroller sees Master Higgins running through eight stages to save his one true love from the evil Witch Doctor. Not only does he have to deal with the various enemies in his way, Master Higgins also has to keep on eating as his vitality keeps running out slowly.
  • Donkey Kong Jr. Math (500 Wii Points) - Players can practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in this NES title by directing Junior up and down vines to collect numbers and math symbols to solve the math problems his father gives him. This game's perfect for teaching younger gamers about the rudiments of mathematics.
  • Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole (800 Wii Points) - Players take on the role of an elvish treasure hunter named Nigel in this Genesis original. Nigel must embark on a quest to obtain all of King Nole's treasure before the treacherous Duke Mercator does. This game is for one player only.
  • Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure (600 Wii Points) - This week's TurboGrafx 16 title is Bonk's last outing on the classic home console. Our hard-headed hero must go head to head against the evil King Drool once again. This game also features a two-player mode for some cooperative head-bonking action.
All the above titles should be available on the Wii Shop Channel. Check 'em out.
