In the video game industry, it's important not to rest on one's laurels. Activision probably knows this. In spite of the fact that its Q4 and fiscal year 2008 financial reports have shown encouraging results, the company is already planning its next ventures in the near future. This was evident in the company's recent conference call. More lucrative news follows after the jump. |

What's George Lucas got to do with Kerrigan and Raynor? Plenty, apparently, based on Surfer Girl's latest bit of speculation regarding the beginnings of the Starcraft franchise, among other rumors. The rest of today's selection of rumors are available in the full article. |

As current top publisher, Activision kept a strong momentum at the Leipzig convention this week, announcing a trio of delights for gamers around the world. In addition to revealing the release dates of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PlayStation 3, Windows PC on DVD, Xbox 360), the publisher also unveiled the international track list for Red Octane's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) and raised curtains on a new game for the James Bond franchise. November 5 is the shipping date for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare toward Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 consoles and Windows PCs worldwide, while a Nintendo DS version was hinted to be coming soon. Guitar Hero fans in non-U.S. and UK-specific regions will receive a collection of tracks from artists all around the world, which include the following (and not necessarily limited to):
Buy: [Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (PS3)] Buy: [Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Bundle (Xbox 360)] Buy: [Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3)] Buy: [Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)] Buy: [Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Xbox 360)] |

A lot of you folks should already be able to watch the "Spider-Man 3" movie in theaters, but for those who are yet to get their hands on the Treyarch-Activision video game Spider-Man 3, here's yet another batch of game-related excerpts from interviews with people involved in the development of the game. This time it's Senior Producer Ann Bunyik talking to the Firing Squad. Below are the juicier bits of it. Things to expect: More story-lines, more missions that involve regular super-hero stuff (not just rescuing balloons), and a more non-linear feel to the game. Things the developers are particularly proud off: The distinction between Spidey in the black costume and Spidey in the regular costume. That and their re-working of the combat system from the ground up. Things they're thankful for: Sam Raimi and Sony for them being helpful with movie material and guidance. Things they don't want to spoil for us: the other playable characters in the game. (What's revealed so far is that the New Goblin will be playable on the PS3 version.) Well, that's that, what followed was your standard spiel on how the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game really took advantage of next-gen power. Not really worth noting since you're expecting that from the game already, right? For the complete interview, feel free to head to the Firing Squad report by clicking on the Read link. |

Here comes the Spider-Man 3 launch trailer video. What more can we say? Honestly, there's nothing more. Everybody who has a console (PS3, 360, PC, Wii, PSP, PS2, DS, GC) has been waiting for this video game to arrive. While it has been topping most requested titles lists already, it is without a doubt that Spider-Man 3 will be bigger when the movie finally takes off.
In this launch trailer video, we see the words "Unleash the power of the black suit" and we can't help but agree. And don't get the impression that this is just one of your usual, needs-to-be-done movie-video game tie in. Both Activision and Treyarch have been talking about the title's gameplay, features and how far this franchise has reached in terms of development. There. We guess, after all, we did say something more. Meanwhile, enough with the talking, and enjoy the trailer video. |

It's just a few days more before Spider-Man 3 hits both theaters and our consoles. And while every one and their neighbor's dog is excited to see the conclusion of Spidey's web-slinging adventure on the silver screen, there's also quite a lot of other fans raring for the game (on PS3, 360, PC, and Wii). Here's a trailer to anticipate all the web-slinging next week. Let's check out the darker side of Spidey, shall we?
Whoa, whoa. Could someone hit rewind? Yeah, thought so. In this trailer, not only do we get to see some of the villains that'll appear in the movie it was based on, but if you look closer (around the 40-second mark), you'll see clips of King Pin and someone who I think is Black Cat (or Calypso, I could be wrong...). Well, they aren't the only baddies appearing in the game, but as to who the rest are, we'd rather not spoil the fun. The game from Treyarch and Activision is also to be released with its PSP, PS2, NDS, GameCube versions. |

How many of you are arachnophobic? Deathly afraid of spiders, eh? Well, if you treat spiders with extreme prejudice (read: the bottom of your shoe), then this new trailer for Spider-Man 3 may change your mind the next time you see an eight-legged critter.
Spider-Man 3 for the Wii from Treyarch is promising to take players straight into the superhero's shoes. The trailer showcases the web slinging action with the Wiimote, swinging around and above New York. We also see the power on the Black suit. It's a fun trailer - especially with that voice over. You can see for yourself by clicking play on the embed. Anyway, Spider-Man 3 will be swinging on the consoles (Xbox360, PS3, and Wii), handhelds (PSP, DS) and PC on May 4. Think the video can tide you over until then? Enjoy! |

The video below is about the upcoming video game Spider-Man 3 (360, PS3, PC, Wii). What exactly about Spider-Man, you ask? Well, pretty much everything you need to know. Because you see, it is a behind-the-scenes trailer video containing snippets from the brilliant people over at Treyarch and Activision.
For example, Executive Producer Chris Archer talked about how their team came up with the concept for the new title. He shared that they reviewed the past games, movies, and even re-read the comic books. They took what's good about them, improved them a bit, and incorporated every single one into this title. Also, Lead Designer Chad Moore talked about the game's graphics. According to him, the character model in Spider-Man 2 was created using 4,500 to 5000 polygons. The new title uses approximately 55,000 polygons. We really learned a lot watching this video clip so we suggest you watch it, too! |
