QuickJump QuickPeek 53 - Image 1It's the first week for QuickJump QuickPeek's second year! Some things never change, while others... well, they get quite a pretty make-over too. Debuting this week are our blog-specific Weekend Warriors, marching all over the QJ.NET blog with their very own in-depth recaps for a full seven days' worth of industry news. Take a gander... some of you may have only seen your preferred blog's Warrior, but now, it might pay to see how everything went for everyone else in the community.

QuickJump QuickPeek 12 - Image 1

(Editor's Note: So how's your week been? It's been a rather busy week for everyone in the QuickJump community. Not only were there the usual big big BIG news cropping up when we least expected them in the gaming industry, but there have also been some major changes to this little slice of heaven we all call QJ.Net. We know some of you guys have been loyal readers since back in the heyday, and that's why we're pulling out all the stops in giving you guys a better time whenever you visit us here. You guys asked for it, and we finally got to make ends meet!)

It's QuickJump QuickPeek's 12th issue and we're zooming down the Internet highway at a momentum that could wet little Matty Lovo Jr.'s pants - BTW, props for finally scoring that PS3, Matty boy! Now while everyone else is already hitting the road for this coming week's Tokyo Game Show (starts on the 20th, all the way up to the 23rd), we've still got to recap what's been going on this week. Besides. Recent developments could actually be setting the stage for the TGS without our knowing. Is so-and-such about to bring out their big guns? Are issues between so-and-so about to be settled? Are sequels, remakes, and ports about to be revealed?

Now, before we start with all the Peeking, we'll have to sneak in some Site News that concerns everyone here in the QJ.Net community: Anonymous Commenting has now been banninated. Users are now encouraged to sign up and register - for free, mind you - in order to comment. Yep, it's been a long time coming indeed, and hey!, everyone's been giving some positive feedback on it too!

It's our goal to provide not only a source of 24/7 gaming news, but be a source of intelligent conversation as well. You all can be a smart and opinionated bunch and we want to encourage that sort of behavior, not stifle it. We're sure Captain Planet is feeling rather blue for having to go on a sudden exodus to banninator land, but it's all for the best!

What with more registered users flocking in, QJ veterans Mister Common Sense, Quixand, AoxomamoxoA, CHUCKINGROCKS, and MGSROCKS1 might have some competition cut out for them in bagging the Comment of the Week now! Who gets it in Issue 12? Sorry, no spoilers...

(Editor's Note: We bring you Issue # 06 of our weekly online magazine, QuickJump QuickPeek! As usual this beefy issue contains the week's events in the videogaming industry, as well as some hair-raising discoveries in the field of science and technology (no small thanks to the geeks of QJ). Of course we've got another comment featured in this week's issue, and it's been tough picking one with all the raving discussions going in our boards. It's also come to our attention that some of you are having a hard time going over the links we put up to our previous issues, so we've designated a "Link" area right below each preview's text. Here's your quick peek, happy reading!)

It's our sixth issue and the big updates just keep piling up. We've got everything covered, from homebrew developers making a comeback, surging console sales, and the arms race of our favorite consoles. Our writing teams are ever hard at labor to bring you the best news as they happen, and we owe you no small thanks in keeping our work fruitful. To show you our gratitude, we bring you another top-notch collection of the hot stories inside and outside the world of gaming. Once again, we bring you this week's movers and shakers:

For the sixth straight week, we bring you great news from the PSP front! For this issue, we have huge updates on both homebrew and commercial gaming. If you've been living under a rock the past seven days worry not, we'll be giving you the highlights of the past week.

For starters, Ahman - father of arguably the best organizational application for the PSP - has surprised the community with another release of iR Shell. Along with numerous new features, iR Shell v3.6 now incorporates support for Team M33's custom firmware. This news was welcomed warmly by everyone familiar with Ahman's work because 1) any update on iR Shell is highly anticipated and 2) this could only mean one of the pioneers in PSP homebrew coding is once again actively developing for our handhelds.

On to fifth issue of QuickJump QuickPeek! Positive feedback has been strong and if there's one thing we love to do outside playing videogames, that's got to be making sure you guys are liking your stay here. So amidst the fanboyish shouts of "Avada Kevadra" and "Erecto Wand" (opps, wrong spell) from potter maniacs here at the office, we bring you the round-up of the things that shook the halls of the gaming industry this week.

Welcome to our fifth issue! For this run, we have more news that prove how strong the PSP homebrew scene is. For starters, we have Sony CEO Jack Tretton signifying support for PSP homebrew. For those who missed this report, try pulling those raised eyebrows a little lower first.

OK, this "little" revelation was made on an IGN interview with Sony bigwigs Tretton, senior manager Patrick Seybold, and senior director Dave Karraker. When asked whether they have any plans of giving PSP homebrew some long-deserved love, here's what Mr. Tretton has to say: "We certainly see some of the stuff that has been done via homebrew, and it's incredibly creative. And I think we'd like to try and tap into that a little bit more".

Now ain't that a stunner? Not really. Sony's a company that thrives on creativity, so it's highly likely that they still know how to appreciate creative strokes of genius when they see it. However certain boundaries are part of entrepreneurial realities, so it's only natural for them to be protective of their own product. We'll keep an eye on how this will develop. Meanwhile...

The full issue awaits after the jump!
