Nights: Journey Into Dreams - Image 1The buzz that Sega's NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for the Nintendo Wii is getting delayed has been confirmed, but it's not as bad as some may have thought because it's still making the holiday season cut. Sega has just announced that the official North American release of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will be December 18, 2007.

Sega has previously denied awareness of the delay rumor concerning NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. This proves to be a valid reaction now as the NiGHTS: Into Dreams remake is definitely making it in time for the Christmas shopping rush.

The only question now is whether Sega did enough to give NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams enough distinguishing factors to make it a new game experience that fits into this generation of gaming or not. Some early peeks of the Nintendo Wii iteration have revealed a stark similarity to the Sega Saturn version, causing alarm to those who've played NiGHTS: Into Dreams a decade ago.

The story of NiGHTS revolves around heroic acrobats in a dreamland called Nightopia struggling to defeat evil dream creatures that threaten everyone in their sleep. Players fly and do crazy stunts in order to progress in levels which can only be described as surreal. We'll give you more NiGHTS and Sega updates soon.

If you've been waiting to see more of Sega's NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams on the Wii, then you've come to the right place. We have the second trailer video (although in Japanese) that shows off the game's beautiful environments as well as some of the notable characters from the game.

Much like this game's predecessor on Sega Saturn, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is set in Nightopia which is being attacked by the Nightmarens. The two children in the game, William Taylor and Helen Cartwright, entered this dream world because of unresolved issues with their parents. With the help of the androgynous character NiGHTS, they have to stop Wizeman the Wicked from his hostile take over.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is slated to be out this coming fall in the U.S., December 13 in Japan, and early next year in Europe.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams - Image 1

Many explosive titles are bound to make an appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show when September comes, so the excitement can't be helped. To assure you that good Wii games are incoming, here's a pinch from the preliminary TGS game list released:
Sega's revival of a classic game from the Sega Saturn console is sure to bring some nostalgia with NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. Those looking for some tidbits of fun with their Wii can grab a volume of Simple Wii by D3. No More Heroes, Suda51's latest stylish game, is also sure to please many.

Getting just a handful of titles for Ninty's slick machine during one of the biggest gaming events of the year can be quite underwhelming, but if they're all of good quality, then who's to complain? Note that the list is subject to change, and it won't be surprising if some other major revelations happen at TGS. Updates as we get them, so watch this space.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams - Image 1

When it comes to Sega's NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, we often discuss about the main protagonist Nights and the quest save the world of Nightopia from the evil clutch of the creatures Nightmaren. But we have to keep in mind that Nights is very much connected to two young kids.

In the original game which was released on Sega Saturn back in 1996, the above mentioned kids were Claris and Eliot. This time, Journey of Dreams will feature the new pair of William Taylor and Helen Cartwright. We've already seen Cartwright in one of the magazine scans before.

Furthermore, we also learned that Helen has a strong affinity for her mother and playing the violin. However, when she was separated from these two, nightmares began haunting her at night. William, on the other hand, excels both in academics and soccer. He began having nightmares when his father was sent away for work.

Both kids are twelve years old and live in the clock-resembling city of Belbridge which we've also seen in the previous trailer.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams scan - Image 1What we have for you today is another magazine scan of upcoming video game NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. Sega already mentioned before that fans in North America should be getting the title by October while those living in Japan will have it before the year ends.

Journey of Dreams remains faithful to the original NiGHTS title released on Sega Saturn back in 1996. It still has that heart-warming storyline which features the character NiGHTS and the world of Nightopia.

In the first game, the Nightmaren (which are nightmare beings) came to Nightopia to wreck havoc. Journey of Dreams goes along the same plot. In terms of gameplay, players will need to perform a lot of flying, acrobatic tricks, as well as other special abilities.

There are "masks" available to NiGHTS which transform the purple androgynous being into a dragon and a dolphin among others. All of these, of course, will be performed using the Wiimote-Nunchuk combination. Sega also said that NiGHTS will have online features that will directly affect the title's seven dream worlds.

One such example is that the settings for each world can be changed according to real-world seasons using the Forecast Channel. Friends, furthermore, can exchanged items using WiiConnect24.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams - Image 1

Sega of Europe has finally let out an official press release regarding NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for the Nintendo Wii video games console. This long-awaited sequel to the original Sega Saturn title is currently being developed by Sega Studios USA and is slated for a Winter 2007 release.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams put players in the role of a fantasy jester called NiGHTS. Gamers must find new and inventive ways for NiGHTS to use his amazing acrobatic skills, freedom of flight, and other special abilities in a bid to protect Nightopia, a world where dreams come to life, from being consumed by the creatures of nightmare, the Nightmarens.

Some of the new features that will be available in NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams include new shape-shifting abilities for NiGHTS through the use of Persona masks. The Dragon mask transforms NiGHTS into a huge dragon and makes him resistant to wind effects. With the Dolphin mask, he can change into a dolphin and explore under water. Finally, the Rocket mask turns him into a rocket, letting him travel at supersonic speeds.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams also takes advantage of the Wiimote to give gamers a whole new experience of flying through the seven dream worlds found in the game. The scenery in these world can also be changed according to real-world seasons using the Wii's Forecast Channel. Players will also be able to exchange items with friends via Wii connect 24.

universumWe have reported to you numerous 2007 predictions about gaming, specifically about the next-gen wars. We've heard about what analyst Michael Pachter had to say and even ordinary people like Benjamin Willcock said his piece about the matter.

Count this bit as something off-topic. European website, Games.Blogo featured a different take on the Wii vs. PS3 vs. Xbox 360 scenario. How different? Well, they consulted the expertise of Astrologer, Elizabeth Hathaway, and she came up with an astrological analysis based on the horoscopes of Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. Well, we told you that it's a different take. Here's what Ms. Hathaway had to say (cue weird, gypsy music):

On Sony and the PS3:

Sony's sun in Taurus in sextile with Saturn reflects a culture where hard work is inherent to its success: strong work ethic. Sony makes durable products. The PlayStation is in fact a little black box – and this is a very Saturnal earthy image. The product is sturdy – designed to last...Sony's weakness is probably that it is not inclined to "change a winning team". This is it's Achilles' heel. At the top - there will be a conservative culture.

On Nintendo and the Wii:

Nintendo is intelligent, good in positioning itself on the market, and it makes attractive products. There is a lot of attention given to the form (Venus in Libra)...Then the Wii, this launch horoscope once again shows- in this case a particularly strong Scorpio theme. This is interesting, because Scorpio is a fixed sign and the Nintendo Wii is an active product. Gamers are used to sitting down to play, with the Wii, you have to get out of your chair...Also Nintendo's birth chart shows that the company has its progressed Sun in square with its radix Saturn. This suggests that in general, the company will have to work hard – very hard – to book results.

On Microsoft and the Xbox 360:

This could be a good year for Microsoft. Jupiter's entry into Sagittarius heralds a year in which Jupiter will transit Microsoft's radix Sun and Mars. This shows expansion, activity, and optimism. Sagittarius is good at adjusting to new circumstances and will aim for big, bigger, biggest...Success will come slowly – Microsoft needs to take a long breath. It will take them some time to establish the Xbox 360. People need to connect with the product first. But it will come for sure.

So in the end, who will emerge victorious? She mentioned that Sony has the lead, but in the long run, all of them have something different to offer. But the horoscope that sits most uncomfortably with the product is the Wii. Are these things something to consider? Well, we all have different beliefs so tell us what you think.
