Leon and Claire team up once again in another retroactive adventure in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, the direct sequel to the Umbrella Chronicles. And while it wasn't the Code Veronica announcement I was expecting, Capcom has also announced remakes of the original RE game and RE Zero.Details after the link. |

Capcom announced today that it has successfully shipped a total of one million Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition copies worldwide making the Nintendo Wii game one of the most successful video games on the platform today. This brings the total sales for the Resident Evil video game franchise up to 33 million since it first came out back in 1996. The Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 is actually remake of one originally released on Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. The story revolves around Raccoon City incident survivor Leon Kennedy and his quest to rescue the president's daughter Ashley Gramm. Other returning characters in this iteration include Ada Wong and Jack Krauser. Capcom added that the success of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition lies in the already installed fan base of the series. Aside from attracting former players, the use of motion-sensing controllers also provided a new dimension that made the new gamers curious about this title. |

A full magazine's worth of some of the most bone-chilling screenshots of a zombie-infested Raccoon City heading right for your ocular receptors in this eye candy update of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii. We get you up close and personal with the living dead - close enough for them to give you a friendly love bite on the neck or two. For those of us who've done more than our share of herb-mixing, storage box-pillaging and zombie-blasting, seeing Raccoon City again is...eerily nostalgic. Of course, we all know that the zombie-filled city itself was reduced to nothing but a crater after the events of Resident Evil 3, with the help of Umbrella Corporation nuking the entire city - but seeing it here, recreated in its dark, gloomy and deadly glory, it's enough to make one shiver in his boots. Graphics are very smooth and detailed, with the textures noticeably convincing and realistic. There's credit to be given to Capcom on making sure the game looks as good as it does on the Wii - the environments are haunting, and the character models are definitely lifelike. Very nice muzzle flash in one of the screenshots, too. With Resident Evil 5 still a long way off, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is sure to get us our 'zombie-blasting' legs back - albeit in a different form of gunplay entirely. Updates as we get them, so enjoy the screenshots! The rest of the screenshots after the jump! |

A scary, not to mention awesome-looking, history lesson of Umbrella's involvement with Raccoon City's zombie-related woes headed for you in this fourth trailer video of Capcom's Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii.
Don't worry about it being Japanese because the superb-sounding voice overs are all in English - and Jill never sounded so good (not to mention the screams, the gunfire, and the zombie roars). So what's new in this trailer? Well, besides the nostalgia blast of seeing most of the characters who shot, slashed, and hacked their way through the hordes of zombies in the games, we also get to see the legendary zombie animals that pretty much made us soil ourselves when we first encountered them. |

So you're planning a road trip, eh? Finally decided to get out of the house, stretch your legs, and get some well-needed R&R after that ridiculously-long all nighter fragging loud thirteen-year-old kids in the Halo 3 Beta? Spiffing! The sunshine will do you a world of good, not to mention the physical rigors of an excursion will get the juices flowing again in those game-atrophied muscles. While there are some ideal destinations that let you lounge beside a sparkling pool while being waited on hand and foot by beautiful, scantily-clad specimens of the female persuasion, there ARE a couple of locations you might want to mark off your list, or avoid entirely. This Videogame Enthusiast Survival guide is about those locations, and if on the off-chance you find yourself in them - well, you're pretty much beyond all help. But don't lose ALL hope, though, as this IS a survival guide, and we have a few tips to share - just in case. The full Survival Guide after the jump! |

Resident Evil
has gone a long way from being just a shocker during PSX days to a
full-blown franchise. Capcom is now taking the next level, with Resident Evil 5 hitting next-gen next year. NECA, the toy company that delivered Resident Evil Anniversary Series 1 action figures, continues the celebration with the release of Series 2 which include the cute guys from RE 2. Those who grabbed RE2 a few years back and attempted to escape the infested Raccoon City will feel at home with these very detailed models. Coming from the set are classic monsters we all loved to blow up, such as Labcoat and Crimson Head zombies. What's a reunion without the Lickers that scared the hell out of us when it jumped through the window while all Leon or Claire had was a puny handgun? How about the agile Hunters that gave a good adrenaline rush? Of course, it won't be complete without the big guy Tyrant. More monstrous samples right after the jump! |

Information about Capcom's Resident Evil series is always a good thing, and there's a new scan from Famitsu that tells us more. Courtesy of NeoGAF, we have that new scan up for you, and it sheds additional information on the Wii-specific version of the Resident Evil series. Known as Biohazard in Japan, the Wii-specific Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicle seems to confirm that there will be first person view gun shooting involved, which was probably something we all expected for Wii controls. What we didn't expect was the assertion that, depending on your translation skills, may mean that this chronicles the beginning of the "destruction" of the Umbrella Corporation. Whether this means we'll be seeing Umbrella publicly revealed as an evil corporation has yet to be determined, but it does bring some hope for the hapless survivors of Raccoon City, who've been looking for an end to their quest. On another note, Jonnyram of the NeoGAF forums also noted that Biohazard 4 for the Wii is expecting a May 31st release date, and will be getting a "search knife attack" that uses the Wiimote's motion sensing to slash with the knife. In any case, you can check out the scan above for more information. |
