NPD Group has released the market performance results for May 2008, and already the PR armies at Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony have began to churn out their reformatted versions of the results. The performance of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) back in the prime of springtime was a grand turnout for both the developers and publisher Take-Two Interactive. For all it's million selling feats though, it couldn't improve the sales of either Microsoft or Sony's next generation consoles. January and February were Sony months so to speak, as the PlayStation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 for both periods. The record was broken when the March sales figures were published by the NPD, but industry analyst Michael Pachter believes that the PS3 will prove to shine once again in April. We're only a quarter a way into the year and we've already seen several big games come out. Reports from the NPD Group indicate that both hardware and software sales are up, up, up. It's been around a month since the last NPD Group sales data were reported, and the new results are in for the month of March. According to the report, Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, proved to be a "smash" hit.

The most recent reports suggest that PC online gaming is still the dominant medium, while consoles come in a far second.
