MTV Games has announced that songs from the first Rock Band game will not be available as downloadable content for Rock Band 2. Apparently, the reasons are capitalistic as they plan to publish the first game "indefinitely." Better call up your friends and see if you can borrow a copy to export the songs. |

Two days before the game's release, the soundtrack for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has apparently been leaked (again!), but this time with gameplay videos for almost all of them. Which means, the list we previously saw is now more or less confirmed. The soundtrack list includes all 74 songs included in the game, even the bonus tracks. Guitar Heroes III: Legends of Rock will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Wii on October 28. The PC and Mac versions will be released on November 12. To watch the videos for the songs, follow the read link at the end of the list. Now without further ado, to-do, and hullabaloo, here are the songs as recap from the previously leaked list: Tier 1: Starting Out Small

As we come close to Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock's (Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii)
much anticipated October 29 release, it's inevitable to find rumors and
speculations about Activision's hottest title. One person from
Aeropause, for example, claims he got a hold of the game's entire track
list including those available only through download.Aeropause sourced a certain "JoshTheBoss" from GameSpot as the one who gave the tip. Upon nosing around, we could only find a GameSpot user going by the name. Unless an insider is hiding under the same handle, this grand song collection could be just another gamer's wishlist. It is also odd how Tom Morello is under Tier 2 when he's supposed to be the third boss. However, rock fans won't be disappointed if this list is legit - Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Slipknot, Metallica and many others are all there to rock. Check it out yourself: Tier 1:

Originally posted on August 14, 2007 at 02:20PMHarmonix confirmed back in July that the legendary rock band Metallica is coming to Rock Band (PS3 and Xbox 360). Also earlier this month both Red Octane and Activision came up with a similar announcement for Guitar Hero III that is scheduled to be released on Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms. But what's this? We just got word that Metallica is currently suing the above mentioned companies for copyright infringement. According to the band's lawyer, what the three companies is planning to do is actually under the "licensed music to player" system otherwise known as LM2P network. Harmonix wasn't able to provide an initial statement regarding the matter but the counsel for Red Octane and Activision had this to say: Our company paid a licensing fee to feature the track 'One' by Metallica in Guitar Hero III. We don't understand why Metallica would turn around and sue us, unless they've gone from insane to completely bats*** insane since 2001, but we're confident that the law and our contracts will be enough to have this thrown out. Metallica's counsel, on the other hand, explained that the band is fearful that album sales will decline because consumers can easily get hold of their songs just by purchasing video game titles. The lawyer added, "The band learned its lesson the hard way with file sharing in the late 90s. This time they want to do a pre-emptive strike before the music gets out there". UPDATE: Over on the Harmonix's forum boards, HMXSean, one of the community forum leaders, chimed in with an important announcement, stating that the article originally written by Daily Gaming is false. According to the forum post, HMXSean said, "In no way is this true. It is well written satire but it is very much satire." HMXSean has since closed the forum post, disallowing comments. You can, however, read about it at the forum link we have below. |

Apparently, Harmonix's Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3) isn't the only game that will be receiving even more heavy metal lovin'. Activision has just sent out word that Metallica is going to be part of Guitar Hero III's (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, PS2) growing song lineup. What makes this news all the more enticing is that the band's master track is reported to be "One." For the guys who haven't heard (or live under a rock), One is the very first song Metallica created a music video for, and is part of their "...And Justice for All" album from 1988, which hit number six on The Billboard 200 during its release. That's all the details we've got for the moment, although we'll update in case more news gets released on more bands making it to GHIII. |
