Nintendo Weekend Warrior - Image 1After four years of staying on top, it's the first time for the Wii to experience a sales decline. Satoru Iwata owns up to the issue, but remains optimistic about Nintendo bouncing back into the game. Much of that is apparent as early as now - Nintendo is steadily adding more games into WiiWare and Virtual Console, grabbing more big Wiixclusives, unleashing the Black Wii, and even introduces a new king-sized DSi.

A few days ago, Jurai dropped a gift on the PS3 Linux forums: the AdvanceMame .106 PS3 Binary. Basically the building blocks for MAME emulation on the PS3. And it's hot. People are obviously looking into the variety of things they can get their PS3 to run. I mean just look at YouTube.

See? Apparently the launch titles aren't enough to sate the more technical of PS3 owners.

Then just recently we find this questionable video of someone allegedly figuring out a way to get the Wii to run burnt DVD-R copies of games. If that's true (doubtful), then that means that people have either figured out the inner workings of the code behind Wii games, or they've found a way to get past Wii's copy security.

Let's assume that some time in the near future people have figured out how Wii games work. I mean they all eventually do anyway. Given enough time and motivation, coders come up with emulations for anything (or workarounds for anything).

Now it's time for us to ask you guys a (not so) stupid question. What would happen if people come up with a Wii emulator that runs on linux? Wii games on your PS3? Why not, they've already allegedly managed to get their PC to "see" a Wiimote. Yes, we know, there isn't even a decent emulator for the previous generation of consoles, but still, things are possible.

Wiimulator?

Some of you guys are thinking about it already. What do the rest of you have to say? One thing's for sure though, you won't be able to use the archival purposes excuse on this one.
