Homebrew coder Molokai has released OpenTyrianWii, a port of the arcade-style vertical scrolling shooter game Tyrian for the Nintendo Wii. The dev says that this release is much more stable and fully functional than the other OpenTyrian ports.

Farter is back with a new update for his media center for the Nintendo Wii. The latest update for GeeXboX, the media center program built on Wii Linux added some new features and fixed the wiimote connection problem.

Farter is back with a new update for his Wii port of GeeXboX. GeeXboX is a media player application that can play all audio and video files that MPlayer can. Defendguin v0.11b is a port of Linux-themed Defender clone to the Nintendo Wii by MiniK. As you can glean from the title, your objective is to defend them happy feet-ers, the Penguinoids, from being captured and mutated by the enemy. Control scheme and video after the jump.

 A new unofficial build of the GameCube and Wii emulator, DolphinWX,has been released, and man, this one is definitely a good update. Thanks to the numerous speed improvements added in this release, some games are seeing speed increases of around 20% to 40%.

The WiiSend app is a very handy way of quickly testing DOL files, especially if you're a Wii homebrew developer. It sends DOL files from your PC to your Wii console and loads it. Perfect if you want to test an app fast.

If you've been having trouble with Wii-linux installations, then you might want to try this one out. It's similar to grub or lilo, but the final goal would be to be able to boot Wii-linux from any compatible device, and to boot different Linux kernel versions. A new Wii-Linux distro is out from developer Bert Jan. It's has the existing Debian/Whiite package as its foundation, but it has Xorg running on top of it. The distro is appropriately named xwhiite. Details after the link.
