In the video game industry, it's important not to rest on one's laurels. Activision probably knows this. In spite of the fact that its Q4 and fiscal year 2008 financial reports have shown encouraging results, the company is already planning its next ventures in the near future. According to insider information, it appears that Infinity Ward is negotiating with Activision to reclaim its rights to developer the Call of Duty series of games.

According to simExchange analyst Jesse Divnich, some numbers taken from both the NPD Group and Mindshare didn't exactly jive with one another after comparing two of the supposedly top-selling games of 2007. The games in question were Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the Xbox 360 (also available on the PC and PS3).
