Yoshiyuki Tomino - Image 1Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino thinks games are evil. He's said it before, and he's not afraid to say it again. This time, however, he does give credit to what he believes are technological advancements brought forth by video game hardware.

Namco Bandai - Image 1You can really feel the gaming expo heat building up when more and more publishers start handing out their lineups. We've seen quite a lot of games coming to TGS 2009 by now, and adding to that list is Namco Bandai, bringing games from franchises that the merged companies are well-known for.

Gundams - Image 1This we expected from Jack Thompson. But from the Gundam creator? This certainly brings a whole lot of disconnect to me. Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator of the most famous sci-fi giant robot (complete with his own posse) Gundam, believes that "video games are evil." Why? Because it's killing our planet. Among many other things, I can only suppose. I think he must have heard of the failed suicide/ arson episode in Japan because mommy took out the guy's Gundam collection to trash. Check out the rest of his statements in the full article.

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1Time for that day of the week when you get all the biggest news and tidbits that came out the past weekend in QJ that you might have missed for one reason or another. There's a lot of GamesCom 2009 updates right here, nothing unusual about that given that the event opens next week. We also still have a healthy spate of rumors pertaining to the console price cuts, particularly because the NPD results are out, and it does look like it will take a mighty slash off the current prices to revitalize the scene. Not all would agree, however. Why don't you jump in and see for yourself what went down in your favorite blogs? We've got it all filled up to the brim for you.

WTF?! - Image 1We know that they went a little Gundam-crazy in Japan last month, but this is taking crazy to a whole new level. 29-year-old factory worker Yoshifumi Takabe has been put under arrest for burning his house down, all because his mom trashed his precious Gundam figure collection. Lots of problems with that one: a) he burned the place he goes home to; b) he still lives with his mom; c) he's gonna share a cell with a dude that'll treat him worse than a Gundam toy.

Gundam Float - Image 1Sometimes, when your imagination is running at full blast and you have very little outlet, you tend to go a little stupid. At least, that's what happens to me. When I ran across this one, I was all, "What?! That huge Gundam in Tokyo floats now?!" Seconds later, I realized how stupid that sounded, especially when you realize that the news concerns a Gundam float and not a floating Gundam.

Pink Gundam - Image 1Pink/ it's my new obsession. / Pink/ it's not even a question. / Pink/ on the lips of your lover/ cause pink is the love you discover. Yes, Aerosmith played prophet back in the nineties and predicted: Pink is the new kinda lingo. But will Gundam fans like it when they see their favorite robot donning it?

QuickJump QuickPeek - Image 1We've had some heavy-hitting gaming news this past week, say for example Ghostbusters: The Video Game's very apparent graphics discrepancy on competing consoles Xbox 360 and PS3. But I'd have to say that the Industry News section of our QuickPeek is clearly the winner of the highlights award for our 77th issue. From ratings boards to company love-teams, to digital distribution vs retailers, Obama's take on indoor (video)gaming versus outdoor frolicking, CEO slip-ups, cover-ups, retractions and apologies, threats to drop support for a console (as in, it's friendship over for Sony, Activision), we've got all the drama -- and more -- right here. You know what to do.

Life-size Gundam in Tokyo - Image 1 News-hopping all over the internet, you may have come across an article or two about this massive full-size Gundam watching over the city of Tokyo over the past couple of weeks. It's huge, it's awesome, and I bet the Japanese sleep better at night knowing they have a big-ass robot to save the day from terrorist attacks. Yes, this big guy isn't just a massive scarecrow to fend-off evildoers - it moves. Video here to show you how.
