Conspiracy Entertainment has just signed a publishing agreement with Epicenter Studios to bring together the Wii-exclusive Real Heroes: Firefighters. But while the title all but screams "fiery action," you'll be quite surprised to learn that it won't be violent at all. So what's in store for you in this game? Read up over after the jump. |

It's been an uphill battle for developer Epicenter Studios, but they've finally secured financing to develop Real Heroes: Firefighters for the Wii. The game allows players to assume the role of a rookie firefighter in a busy
metropolitan fire station where they will have to face an escalating array of emergency situations. The game will be featuring some proprietary technology from Epicenter called Thinking Fire. This will allow the game's blazes to "seem almost alive" and actively attack structures, potential victims, and firefighters. Another thing that this technology is said to model are the unexpected changes to the environments which players will have to adopt to. This is said to create a game where no two scenarios will play out the same way. Very interesting stuff if we do say so ourselves. Epicenter CCO Bryan Jury spoke on this proprietary technology and how this game should provide a very visceral experience to those who do decide to pick it up. Combining our unique fire tech with the specific strengths of the Wii was a natural choice for us as we designed Real Heroes. The Wii-mote makes spraying down fires with your hose, hacking down doors with your axe and prying victims loose from wrecked cars with the "Jaws of Life" an absolutely visceral game experience. If that wasn't enough to make you at least take a look at the game, the company's CEO Nathaniel McClure also took some time out of his schedule to share a few details on the gameplay and the target audience that they are building the game for. He also discusses the reason for focusing on firefighters.
The Wii is a family-friendly console and we’ve designed Real Heroes with that in mind. Because firefighting requires a lot more than dousing flames, Real Heroes emphasizes non-violent, game-integral puzzles that mirror the challenges and on-the-fly choices firefighters actually face. We are making every effort to create a game that is intense and engaging, but always respectful to firefighters who, we believe, are real heroes. With that said, Epicenter has not yet decided on a publisher for the game yet though it is expected to be picking one soon. As of this article's writing, the game is slated for a 2008 holiday release. We're pretty sure this isn't the last we'll be hearing about this game, so keep checking back for more updates. |
