Although waninkoko's cIOS custom firmware installer is a popular program, some circles in the Wiibrew community prefer not to use it. As an alternative, Wiibrew dev tona has provided cIOS PatchMii Installer, an alternative program that doesn't require you to have the specific IOS WAD to install, but instead patches the existing one. Cooling off from updating his Custom Firmware software for a while, Wiibrew developer waninkoko has released a new application. Called Channel Loader, it lets you launch any channel of any region installed on your Wii console. More details in the full article.

Waninkoko has rolled out another update to his custom firmware installer for the Wii, Custom IOS. A couple of functions have been dropped in the code, but the major change is the switch of the IOS base, which is now 36 instead of 37. More details in the full article.

The Wiibrew scene was pretty lively this week (livelier than E3, I daresay), with the release of the Wii's first custom firmware, and the discovery of an exploit that could allow ISOs to run on unmodified Wiis. There's even talk of a new version of the Homebrew Channel in development! Time to get cracking with this week's Wiibrew Weekend Warrior!

Stalwart Wii homebrew developer waninkoko has done it again, and this time in a major, major way, with the release of a custom IOS installer for the Wii. Demonstrating the power of this installer, waninkoko has also released a Wii DVD Dumper and GenPlus-GX, a Genesis emulator for the Wii that makes use of the custom firmware.
