Tomb Raider: Anniversary for the Wii - Image 1The Wii version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary remains without a definite European release date, but Eidos has assured fans of the series that it will be in store shelves by Christmas. This according to video game news website Eurogamer.

Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider: Anniversary for the Nintendo Wii home video game console was announced earlier this year. New features will of course put the spotlight on the console's motion-sensing controller. Eidos has also confirmed that the game will be in North American retail stores on November 13.

Two versions of Tomb Raider: Anniversary - PlayStation 2 and PC - are already out in Europe. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable versions of the game are due for release tomorrow.

The dungeon crawling video game babe we all know is getting the respect she deserves, as Eidos Interactive's Tomb Raider: Anniversary on the Nintendo Wii is pulling out all the stops to breathe new life into the game through motion sensing controls. What you'll see in the gameplay footage below is Lara showing off her brush and pick skills.

Just from the looks of it, going physical by waggling the Wii Remote as you pull crates and levers can be fun. Lara's reiteration on Ninty's console also looks pretty smooth, leading us to believe fans who already own Tomb Raider: Anniversary on other platforms (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation Portable, PC) would still want to give this version a spin.

See for yourself by watching Crystal Dynamics and Buzz Monkey Software's Tomb Raider: Anniversary video below.

Here are two new promotional videos for the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 versions of Tomb Raider Anniversary. The PlayStation Portable and PC versions, on the other hand, had already been launched by developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Eidos Interactive last August and June respectively.

The video clip for the Wii version of the title features a real-life Lara Croft holding a Wiimote and Nunchuk interspersed with in-game footage. The one for Microsoft's Xbox 360 shows off more gameplay clips and some of the environments and enemies players will be meeting in the video game.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is a remake of the original Tomb Raider video game that was released in 1996. Crystal Dynamics used an enhanced version of the Legend game engine on this port.

Take-Two Interactive finally taken over - Image 1Remember Take-Two Interactive's shareholders plan to take over the reins of the struggling video game publisher? Well, they finally did control the boardroom - last night. According to reports, the take over happened during Take-Two's annual meeting at the Hotel Gansevoort, and the action was quite swift and decisive.

The investors who are not so keen on former CEO Paul Eibeler's way of managing and handling the company installed Benjamin Feder as the acting chief executive officer. Strauss Zelnick, likewise, was installed chairman. These shareholders actually control almost 50% of Take-Two's stock and that is why they were able to pull this stunt.

Anyway, it seems that the latest development was favored by the so-called big Benjamin players as the publisher's regular NASDAQ trading immediately rose by US$ 0.24 ending at US$ 21.10. More remarkably, Take-Two's shares also rose from US$ 1.36 to US$ 22.46 during last night's extended trading.

The new chairman, Zelnick, said that one of the things that needs to be done first is to look for a permanent CEO, and CFO Karl Winters will keep his post for now. And then he added, "The first goal is to get to know the company and its employees, to reassure people and create value for shareholders."

Strauss Zelnick used to head Bertelsmann AG's BMG music company and video game developer Crystal Dynamics Inc. He currently  takes charge of New York-based investment firm Zelnick Media. Other newly installed directors include Michael Dornemann, Jon Moses, and Michael Sheresky.

Lastly, the reports added that Eibeler and his companions tried to look for a last-minute buyer in favor of them but to no avail.

Eidos - Image 1British publisher Eidos has announced their plans to open shop, specifically a new development studio, in Montreal. This new Eidos studio will be working on unnamed and undisclosed next-gen games. The coveted role of general manager will be given to Stéphane D'Astous. The new GM's first task is to recruit a new team for the Montreal studio.

This is all part of Eidos' expansion strategy. After opening new studios in Sweden and Hungary in the past 12 months, it seems that the expansion is going as planned. The company also internal studios Crystal Dynamics, IO Interactive, Pivotal Games and Beautiful Game. According to Bill Ennis, commercial director of Eidos:

This is a really exciting time for Eidos. We are actively looking for opportunities to further our drive to become a major force in global videogames publishing. Montreal is the ideal location to open a new studio because of its thriving game development community and favourable economics.

The Quebec Government has been known to have a really supportive program for games companies. Earlier, Ubisoft was the recipient of a multi-million dollar grant to fund the expansion of its Montreal office. According to Raymond Bachand, Quebec's minister of economic development, innovation and exports:

Our talented workers, competitive operating costs and the support of our government have enabled Quebec to become the sector leader in Canada and attract industry's major players, like Eidos.
