On Shelves This Week: March 22 to March 28, 2009 - Image 1This week is like multiplatform game week. Looks like the only console to get some exclusives this week is the DS. But enough chitchat. Let's get right on to the release schedules!

Championship Manager - Image 1A good number of games play well on both consoles and PCs, but we all know that certain games belong to one or the other. RTSs, for example, are largely for the PC. The dev of Championship Manager though, believes that strategy games don't belong on consoles because he believes that console owners "don't want a game you've got to think about too much."

Chart Track's top 10 - Image 1

And the lean All-Platforms List from pop culture trackers Chart Track begins with your friendly neighborhood Spidey, who according to the gamers at the UK, is sitting neatly on top of the list for the third week in a row. Multiplatform Spider-Man 3 actually owes it all to the PlayStation 3 and PS2 fans, especially to the recent release of the Collector's Edition.

It appears that the charts has been dominated by games available for the Nintendo Wii, however, with around five games from multiplatform releases and two as first-party titles. Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 takes its hat off to the gamers of the new-gen console, being noted as the biggest jumper in the list for this week - a clear leap from the 10th spot to number 6.

Microsoft and Sony bring around four games a piece, although the Xbox 360 keeps a single exclusive title with Realtime World's Crackdown. Crackdown is also this week's new entrant to the list, leaping in to the 8th spot from the 19th. Sony on the other hand has a collection of titles for the PS2, PlayStation 3, and the PSP on the list.

Sitting comfortably in number two for three weeks is Electronic Arts' Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, raking in the advantages of topping both the PC and Xbox 360 charts in the region. Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 enters the top three from the 4th spot. Office Create's Cooking Mama steps up from the 6th to enter the top five. Here's a rundown:
  1. Spider-Man 3 (Activision)
  2. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Electronic Arts)
  3. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
  4. Wii Play (Nintendo)
  5. Cooking Mama (Nintendo)
  6. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (Electronics Arts)
  7. FIFA 07 (Electronic Arts)
  8. Crackdown (Microsoft)
  9. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (Ubisoft)

Spider Man 3 - Image 1Everybody's favorite wall-crawler is still here to stay, as we find Spider Man 3 the most consistent name found among this week's GameFly game rental charts. But while Activision's title based on the movie holds its top post for the PS3 and Xbox 360 console, a quick scan on the rest of this week's top picks indicate that Spidey's Wii port has folded, with Super Paper Mario still holding fast to the console's top picks.

The same goes for the PSP scene, with Spider-Man 3 seated at the tail end of the portable's top five - the number one post being held by a phalanx of a demand for 300: March to Glory. Pokemania also appears to have defeated the Marvel icon at the DS scene, with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl dominating the first two slots.
  • Xbox 360
    • Spiderman 3 (Activision)
    • Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Electronic Arts)
    • Shadowrun (Microsoft)
    • Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Capcom)
    • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Ubisoft)
  • Wii
    • Super Paper Mario (Nintendo)
    • Spiderman 3 (Activision)
    • Heatseeker (Codemasters)
    • Mario Party 8 (Nintendo)
    • Cooking Mama: Cook Off (Majesco)
  • PlayStation 3 (PS3)
    • Spiderman 3 (Activision)
    • F.E.A.R. (Vivendi)
    • MLB 07: The Show (Sony)
    • Transformers: The Game (Activision)
    • Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Tecmo)
  • Nintendo DS
    • Pokemon Diamond (Nintendo)
    • Pokemon Pearl (Nintendo)
    • Spiderman 3 (Activision)
    • Wario: Master of Disguise (Nintendo)
    • Pokemon Ranger (Nintendo)

Spiderman 3 still on top - Image 1"Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can..." Aside from web-slinging and extra-sensory powers, spiders can apparently stay stuck on top of the charts for three weeks in a row too. Yes, for the week ending April 20, Spiderman 3 has again topped GameFly's chart for "Most Requested Game" across all platforms.

Also comfortably maintaining their spots on second and third places are Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Super Paper Mario, respectively. Come next week, however, we could see the likes of Pirates of the Carribean smuggling into the top three.

Now as for the specific round up of the most request games per console (PS3, 360, Wii) and handheld (PSP, NDS), check out the "Full Article" link below!
