"Consumers are back out spending again." That's what Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn said as he described his anticipation for the forthcoming holidays. Even with the economy going the way it is, the industry seems to have won them over, getting them to spend on their toys again. More after the jump.

I guess we should have been more specific. When we said we're waiting for a confirmation on the Nintendo Wii price cut, we meant (and we thought it should have been obvious) that we were waiting for it from Nintendo. Well, it doesn't look like Ninty's up to the plate anytime soon, so in the meantime, this confirmation will have to do -- from Sony.

"Price cut" seems like the console mantra for months now, putting the pressure on major players in the industry to take a bit off their hardware price to stay competitive. Nintendo, so it seems, remains adamant about not lowering the Wii price, despite five months of sales decline, possibly going six. If Nintendo won't, then the retailers may be taking matters into their own hands, with rumors of price cuts surfacing anew.

Okay, Nintendo. Just spill it out already. Ads for the Wii price cut are "leaking" out one by one on every major retail store, all tagging the same price, and you're still saying nary a thing about it. Here, Best Buy joins in on the fray this time.

Rumor confirmed guys. The cheap ass informant at Cheap Ass Gamer called it right - Best Buy is indeed holding a big sale, where selected items will be sold for only US$ 9.99. Best part is, it's tomorrow, April 26th!

If you think ten bucks can only go as far as downloading little games online, think again. Best Buy lives up to its name by holding a major markdown sale of over 50 titles for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and even the PS2, putting games at a must-get price of only US$ 9.99 - or so rumors say. You'd think that with Circuit City out of the way, competitors will have a better chance of riding out this crazy economy, but that's not the case. Best Buy and Target are both letting go of hundreds of employees to cut costs. Details after the link.

It's official. Circuit City is now officially six feet under after failing to find a buyer, leaving 30,000 more people unemployed.

Quantum of Solace has received an official release date from Activision. Expect the game to hit shelves on November 4. Better get yourself a pre-order as well; those who do will get access to a multiplayer map pack for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Since the game runs on the same engine as Call of Duty 4, I'm betting that map pack's worth getting. More details after the link.
