AcidMods does some great Wiimote mods, but this one has my vote. In a bid to give the Wiimote a fuzzy, natural feel to replace its cold, white plastic, modder DHRECK made an exterior made entirely of hemp. Hemp cordage, I mean. Oh, you. |

You'd think the Wiimote would be the ultimate controller for shooters, but having to switch between the D-pad and the A button every time you change weapons just makes for clunky gameplay. The solution? Slap a track ball on the A button! And that's just what AcidMods did. Check out a vid of their latest mod after the link. Another thanks to Mark for the tip off! |

Well, I don't get to see that many mods for the Wii so this comes as a refreshing change. This one is a Wiimote mod that fiddles with the A and B buttons, giving them a rapid fire feature. No more sore thumbs! Vids after the link.A tip of the hat to Mark for the tip! |

AcidMods member kypes uploaded a YouTube video clip showing off his modded Nintendo Wii console
dubbed as Codename: UV Hack. Modder kypes also mentioned that although it took him quite long to finish Codename: UV Hack, it was all worth it in the end. The video clip shows the other features of this specific console not outlined by kypes.Watch the video after the jump! |

Here's an interesting controller tweak that looks easy to recreate. Gene0514 posted a thread over at AcidMods detailing pictures of the author's attempt to maximize the Wiimote's "feel" in tennis-style games, requiring just a few rubber bands, a racket, and a controller:
Going into further details, version 1 on the right used a badminton racket because Gene0514 couldn't find his tennis racket at the time. Version 2 on the right has the controller mounted on a tennis racket after it was found. Gene0514 further notes that the rig helped tennis matches on the Wii feel more real, although the "mod" is limited to this role - disassembly is a simple matter of removing the rubber bands. As we said earlier, this "mod" looks easy enough to follow, although we do caution the readers - putting something as heavy as a Wiimote on the business end of a tennis/badminton racket will do strange things to its balance when you start swinging. Watch those wrists if you're serious about trying this out (stretch first), and make sure to round out your collection of controller add-ons with other game-specific peripherals. |
