If you want to give yourself a quick distraction from all the Wii homebrew you've been immersing yourself in, then perhaps you'd like to take a easy with a quick Breakout clone designed for the Nintendo console. Wiibreaker v0.1 is a simple brick breaker-type game that works with the Homebrew Channel, and includes Wiimote and Front SD Card Loader support.

Developer Tantric recently got around to release another update to the FCE Ultra NES homebrew emulator for the Wii, FCE Ultra GX. The new build (version 2.0.2) was able to fix several bugs and has also updated its core emulator to 0.92.13pre. Check out the complete list of changes since our last coverage after the jump.

Those of you who were excited about the Wii Loader project that Waninkoko was working on will be greatly disappointed. A recent announcement posted on the developer's site stated that the homebrew application has officially been abandoned. Developer dborth recently released a new homebrew emulator for the Wii, based on the PC-released Visual Boy Advance. The port of Game Boy Advance emulator includes many useful features and provides a seamless player for ROMs of the Nintendo handheld. Those of you who've seen the previous promotional artwork for Mega Man 9 might be surprised to find out Capcom has gotten more than a little bit serious about it. Despite being delivered as downloadable content for various consoles, the publishers have come up with a promo "box art" for the game using a retro-styled NES box and casing. Nothing beats a refreshing game of Breakout (or its many clones). Another one of its said clones resurfaced, this time for the Nintendo Wii, in a homebrew translation by developer JSLemming. Another homebrew emulator was recently spotted on the Nintendo Wii, this time focusing on the MSX platform popularized in the 1980s.
