Via Go Nintendo, we've just found out that Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure has also been delayed and slated for a January 18, 2008 release date in Europe.

The reason, according to Capcom and Nintendo, is that they want to release this game with the best coverage possible so as to get the reception the game deserves.

If you're a Nintendo Wii owner who's looking to get a copy of Capcom's Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, you might get a bit disappointed to find out that Nintendo has confirmed the game's delay. That means pirate Zack and his magical monkey won't be seen down under anytime near Christmas along with other key Nintendo Wii prospects. Capcom and Nintendo, however, assure everyone that this is a temporary issue and all is being done for the best interest of the gaming public.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl's delayed release date sent many a Brawler wailing and gnashing their teeth, but its good to know that there's somebody who is actually happy about the game not getting stuffed into Christmas socks this holiday season: Capcom. At least, that's what the industry analysts are saying.

With no Super Smash Bros. Brawl to look forward to in the holiday season, Wii gamers will be diverted to other titles such as Super Mario Galaxy, Zack and Wiki, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. The last two titles are published by Capcom.

The industry analysts from GamerMetrics said that Zack and Wiki should be snapped up by the younger set, while older games will while their time away with Resident Evil. Of course, Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy will most probably become such a hit for both older and younger gamers.

Being great games in their own rights, these games should be more than enough to make the wait for Brawl more bearable.

Hailed as one of the forerunners during this year's Tokyo Game Show, Capcom fielded a wide array of games which practically reeled the gamers in, asking for more. In an interview conducted with Capcom producer Hironobu Takeshita, he explains some of the details of two of these games highlighted during the TGS - namely, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbados' Treasure and We Love Golf for the Nintendo Wii.

Seeing as both games make extensive use of the Nintendo Wiimote, Takeshita explains the biggest difficulty they had with both games were the technical issues with fine-tuning the different gestures and actions related to the game's motion sensing aspect.

This was especially true for the Zack & Wiki game. Takeshita relates that because the game's director was such a fan of PC point-and-click adventure games, they wanted to create a new kind of game which incorporated the physical interaction the Wii gave players while giving them a fun time solving the different puzzles in the game through the use of the different gestures available. Because of such, the game will rely exclusively on the Wii remote in terms of control.

Called the "guide cursor system", he explains this new system in detail:

By introducing this system, you can draw lines on the screen with two to four people. When you face a puzzle you can't solve yourself, or you're playing it with other people surrounding you, they can say, "oh maybe you should go here, or maybe you should take a look over here" - they can participate in it as well. You can also use this for perhaps a puzzle you have already solved yourself. If you want to give that to someone else and you want them to solve it, you can give them hints as they go along. This is another thing we wanted to just use the remote to do this.

On the flip side, the We Love Golf aspect was aimed mainly for Japanese gamers to enjoy all the interesting aspects of golf in general. While not wholly concentrated on being an actual real-life golf simulator, influences from past golf titles such as Hot Shots Golf and Mario Golf series by Camelot will hopefully give the new series time to grow and be appreciated from there.

The TGS gave Japanese public the first chance to view this newest golf series created by the same developers who made the aforementioned golf titles. All in all, with other titles such as Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Devil May Cry 4, Capcom surely gave everyone an overdose of video gaming eyecandy during the event. Hopefully, the next year will bring about these new titles sitting at the palm of our hands, ready to be played on our favorite next gen consoles.

The trailer itself focuses on how the players will be using the Wiimote in Zack & Wiki. Capcom has reiterated time and again that much effort was given on the control scheme of the game to make it as natural as possible. Seeing that this title is a puzzle and adventure game, expect a lot of challenges and mind-bending puzzles to come your way.

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is the story of the wanna-be pirate Zack and his rather talkative buddy Wiki. In one of their quests, they stumbled upon the talking skull of Barbaros himself. This meeting is the key in finding the long lost treasure of the legendary pirate.
