20 years after Nintendo launched the Game Boy, the immensely popular portable gaming device has now been inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of an elite list of legendary playthings. An honor well-deserved. Seeking to continue their hardware success, Nintendo has had another busy week, topped off with updates from three of their biggest execs.

After four years of staying on top, it's the first time for the Wii to experience a sales decline. Satoru Iwata owns up to the issue, but remains optimistic about Nintendo bouncing back into the game. Much of that is apparent as early as now - Nintendo is steadily adding more games into WiiWare and Virtual Console, grabbing more big Wiixclusives, unleashing the Black Wii, and even introduces a new king-sized DSi.

Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said it - they'll be moving along with the progress of technology and he wants to see games with better graphics. Couple that with the rumor that a graphically-superior Nintendo DS is on its way, then perhaps Nintendo has been busying itself with preparing new hardware. For now, they're working on existing hardware, turning white controllers black, and enlisting balance boards in the fight against terrorism.

They might not be doing so hot right now, but that doesn't mean we should forget the success they've had for the most part of the year. Bad week for Nintendo. Not only did their Wii price cut fail to send those numbers flying, but they even coughed out a System Update from gaming hell. Early this week, those who updated their Nintendo Wii got a rather unpleasant surprise. The update, which deletes homebrew, also left a lot of bricked Wiis in its wake. Realizing it was their fault, Nintendo is quick to try and remedy the situation by giving free repairs. Catch the whole story and more right here.

After weeks of denying rumors and trying to keep up with the console pricing, Nintendo finally confirms the Wii price cut, though unfortunately the UK isn't getting one. Still, in the words of that counselor from The New Guy, "I'm sorry to tell you that denial is not just a river in Egypt." "Price cut" seems like the console mantra for months now, putting the pressure on major players in the industry to take a bit off their hardware price to stay competitive. Nintendo, so it seems, remains adamant about not lowering the Wii price, despite five months of sales decline, possibly going six. If Nintendo won't, then the retailers may be taking matters into their own hands, with rumors of price cuts surfacing anew.
