The Atlus box art for Trauma Center New Blood - Image 1Since we at QJ had enjoyed playing Atlus' Trauma Center: Under the Knife and Trauma Center: Second Opinion, the recent release of Atlus' Trauma Center: New Blood for the Nintendo Wii got our blood pumping once again.  In hindsight, though, we couldn't help but wish that certain things (and people) had been included in Atlus' new medical sim, so we've compiled a short list of them.

What we think should have been in Trauma Center: New Blood after the jump!

Trauma Center: Second Opinion - Image 3

Rookie doctor Derek Stiles has arrived in Europe with his scalpel, stethoscope and... scantily clad nurses? Trauma Center: Second Opinion takes the experience one step further (in what direction?) by sending two ladies decked out in full nurse attire (in what hospital?) to deliver PAL copies of the game to the staff of CVG.

Gentlemen as they are, the guys down at CVG just took a few pictures with them to mark the occasion and sent them on their way to care for their patients.

But, to get to the point, Trauma Center: Second Opinion has finally arrived on European shores. The game will use the functions of the Wiimote Nunchuk to select and use their operating tools as you face off with the menace GUILT. The game will also star a second surgeon, Dr. Nozomi Weaver, who you will play as well.

Dr. Derek Stiles in Trauma Center: Second Opinion - Image 1Rookie doctor Derek Stiles is back and he's bringing the fight against GUILT to Europe this August in the Nintendo Wii title Trauma Center: Second Opinion.

Following the popular DS title Trauma Center: Under the Knife, Trauma Center: Second Opinion lets gamers test their life-saving skills once again, this time using the Wiimote. Players can select instruments using the Nunchuk in one hand while the other hand employs the chosen tool.

Second Opinion also brings back the Healing Touch ability which lets Derek perform lightning-fast surgery. The game also introduces a new surgeon, Dr. Nozomi Weaver, who can heal patients at an accelerated rate.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion launches across Europe for the Nintendo Wii video game system on August 10. The suggested retail price for this game is UK£ 35.

Wii Most Wanted bundleThe minds behind GameStop have just come up with a new Wii bundle that's slated to ship on January 17. Called the "Nintendo Wii Most Wanted" bundle, it includes the Nintendo Wii system (system, remote controller, nunchuck, stand, sensor, and Wii Sports), a Wii 1GB memory card, and an extra Wiimote.

Apart from Wii Sports, six other titles also come with the bundle. Included are Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Red Steel, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, and Madden NFL 2007. It also includes a 1 Year Product Replacement Plan.

You can order the Nintendo Wii Most Wanted bundle from GameStop for US$ 679.90. Yeah, the price is a bit high, but with 7 games, at least you won't get bored for quite some time.

Trauma Center

When our moms or girlfriend(s) ever string the words "doctor","hospital", and "check-up" together in the same sentence, we always seem to get this natural urge to run for cover, or come up with some lame-O excuse like "I don't wanna go - I'm not feeling well." D-oh!

Given that fight-or-flight response, we're gonna try to see if we can get you up and going by using the same words. Here goes: Trauma Center: Second Opinion just launched, so anybody's who's got a thing for playing doctor in a hospital might wanna check-up with their local stores. There, that wasn't so hard, was it?

Like we said, the game's out today (November 14), and for the guys who've enjoyed its DS version, who've seen the game vids, or wanna take a crack at its interface with the Wiimote, now's your chance to get a crack at being Black Jack. Sure, the Wii's not gonna be out until the 19th, but that doesn't mean we can't buy this in reserve. Clear the table and cut 'er open, people - the doctor is about to operate.

Trauma Center

Atlus' upcoming "medical drama simulation" is making its way to Wii (that's Trauma Center: Second Opinion, for you), and it sure is getting us waaaay excited.

And why wouldn't we? It's like watching one of those intense medical dramas and playing a game at the same time. You see, it's set in 2018, and a creepy virus called GUILT (Gangliated Utrophin Immuno Latency Toxin) is creeping its way towards mankind.

Enter Dr. Stiles, a brilliant doctor at Hope Hospital oh-so eager to become a full-fledged surgeon. Just how brilliant this guy is? Well, let's just say the world is banking on him to stop GUILT. And who gets to play the brilliant character? Let me give you a hint. It's a three-letter word that has "u" in it.

Want to know more about this game? You can read our previous articles about it, or you can directly head to their official website, which just opened. It contains stuff about the game's plot, some character info, as well as the surgical tools that you'll come across with; so it's worth taking a look. Go click on the "read" link below, and you'll be re-directed to it right away. Enjoy!

Raving Rabbids and Trauma Center - Image 1 Raving Rabbids and Trauma Center - Image 2

So you've seen big loads of Wii box art before, but those are for the Western market. Ever wondered how their Wii box art looked like in Japan? Well now. Today you get the chance to take a peek at Japanese Wii art (box art, you perv).

We've got box art for Rayman Raving Rabbids ("Rabbids Party"?), Trauma Center: Second Opinion, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Wing Island, Wii Sports... Even a Wii Play + Wiimote bundle.

The template for the boxes are pretty much the same. And although some of the box art look similar to those to be released on our side of the world, there are a few distinctions to be made. Take for example the Raving Rabbids cover. Isn't it strange that there's no pic of Rayman on it? Well, with those little critters running mad on the cover, who needs Rayman to identify the game with the franchise?

Click the pics to enlarge the Wii (box art)!

RumorThere's nothing like a rumor to keep our curiosity radars form buzzing. And a rumor is what I have right now, and it's what you're going to get as well.

Anyway, while we were passing by the GameTrailers forums, we happened to notice a seemingly inconspicuous thread. It read: "Tentative Best Buy Wii Inventory". Of course, that got us really curious, and we're sure by now you are too, so let me spill the juicy details.

December 32nd posted that a supposedly Best Buy employee said that Best Buy will apparently have around 80 to 90 Wii units in stock come launch. Of course the numbers may vary in different locations (from 120 consoles in "the more popular stores", to a staggering 24 units in others). He said that around 60 Red Steel discs will be available, while Trauma Center will be around 30.

WiiMoreover, he says that the numbers will most likely double by November. Initially, Best Buy should get the Wii shipments by today or tomorrow, but it was pushed back to November 19 "most likely to stop the overload of employees checking". However, December 32nd reiterates that this is still a "tentative inventory that has yet to be received by ANY of the stores, but it is the actual information from the inventory orders."

Hmm...curiouser and curiouser. But remember guys, THIS IS STILL A RUMOR, so don't let this stop you from camping at your local Best Buy store for the Wii (for the win?). The guy who posted this even said that he's still camping out, as "its a strong possibility that parents of little Johnny Everykid will be waking up early enough to get the drop on those of us who underestimate the lure of the Wii".

Do you remember those gut-wrenching (quite literally, too) scenes in various "medical shows" like "ER" or "House"? The patient who accidentally got a shard of glass on his stomach turns out to be a hemophiliac, and the doctors only have an hour to save his life. Imagine the terror, the pressure, and sheer drama of it all. It's one of those episodes that makes you want to be a doctor because it's such a noble job.

And maybe that's one of Trauma Center: Second Opinion's appeal to me. After all, I'm no surgeon aspirant or a sadist who ran out of avenues to project her pain-inflicting tendencies. But I'm settling for this one because of the fun factor, in a sort of whacked out sense:
  1. Stepping in the way hectic shoes of a surgeon sure sounds fun. And the good thing about this is that you're only "operating" on virtual anatomies, so there's no risk involving another person's life. Sort of like getting the whole package with no strings attached.
  2. You get to fool around some guy's intestines.
  3. The "ER" drama.
Seriously though, this Atlus game shows some promise, so if you want to experience a "medical" version of an RPG, then you might want to give this game a try. And speaking of showing off, here are some Famitsu scans to give you an idea what this game is like.
