When we last heard about Spore, we learned that Electronic Arts was no longer counting on revenue from Spore for this current fiscal year. Based on that information, this means that the earliest we'd probably see Spore is at least until after March 2008 (the current fiscal year ends then). This delay though doesn't mean that EA has stopped marketing the anticipated game. In fact, EA has something for fans of the "god-game" genre.
Load up The Sims 2: Pets, and have your sim go use his PC. You'll find out that the pixel and polygon sims aren't bound by the constraints of real-world release date delays. Your sim can play Spore. You can't. Not yet at least. Click play on the video below to get a better idea of what we're saying. |

Electronic Arts announced earlier today that the simulation title The Sims 2: Pets for Wii has finally shipped to retail stores across North America. The release date for Europe, on the other hand, is June 28. Pets is actually based on the video game title for PC The Sims 2 which has currently sold a total of 5.5 million copies worldwide. In this game, all a player has to do is create and control digital characters throughout their lives and decide the outcome of their relationships and destiny. The Wii version is the same as the Windows version - the only difference is that fans can use the Wiimote and Nunchuk combo in the game. The biggest feature of The Sims 2: Pets is the Create-a pet where players can customize their pets' look by changing the body shape, color, fur, and nose among others. It is also possible for pets to have new skills like getting the paper, rolling over, as well as sitting and shaking through training. |

Never mind that the franchise is going to the silver-screen. We imagine that Electronic Art's The Sims franchise already has its following of fans, and will definitely find a new support - especially among animal lovers - in its upcoming Wii release, The Sims 2: Pets.
This latest video we've just picked up should demonstrate how the game will handle for the Wii, and how the Wiimote's control interface is expected to handle the game's various options and controls. Enjoy the video, and keep in touch as The Sims 2: pets for the Wii readies for its release on June 13. |

We have no idea how they're planning to do it, but 20th Century Fox looks set on bringing Electronic Arts' popular Sims franchise to the big screen. According to Variety, Fox has acquired the rights to The Sims and will be making a live-action movie based on it."The Sims has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it," said Sims Studio head Rod Humble. "Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling." Humble will be managing the creative property for Electronic Arts while Steve Asbell is overseeing the project for Fox. The script will reportedly be handled by Brian Lynch, who also penned Scary Movie 3 and the upcoming Big Helium Dog. The story is still under wraps and talents have yet to be associated with the project. |

When we first announced that The Sims 2: Pets was being shipped over to the Nintendo Wii, much of the details of this GC and DS makeover title were pretty skimpy. We mean, what could the Wii version offer that hasn't already been done on GameCube or the touchscreen DS?It seems now that Electronic Arts is serious about going multiplatform in-house at Nintendo, and is aiming to take advantage of the Wiimote and the Nunchuk combo for enticing gamers to try some hand-pointing customizations for your Sims 2 home. Yep, you heard it right: like many other spin off titles for The Sims, you will still be able to customize your house, your Sim and have a say on how they live in this game. Only now, they get to share their lives with a virtual pet. Now we've gone through most of the details with the pets before, but most importantly, you should know that your pet does have a mind of its own also. You can expect to choose breeds like Retrievers, Beagles, Pugs, Schnoodles, Main Coons, Siamese and many more. Also, like many other Sims titles, you'll be playing this one solo, but you can always look forward to showing off your newly acquired pet accessories for your puppy when the title ships this summer. |

Guess what the cat dragged in? It's a fresh batch of The Sims 2: Pets (Wii) screens, and with some game details to boot. While the DS version of the game has already been released, the Sim-to-pet interaction will be taken to the next level with the full support of the Wii remote and Nunchuk. You'll be able to create your own pet, with a wide selection of 22 dog- and 15 cat-breeds to choose from. You'll be able to customize their color, fur, and body shape, among others. The Town Park is there so that you can take your own pet out for some social interaction with other furry friends and watch the whole community grow. Your very own pet will even assume its own personality - loyal, friendly, noisy, or hyper. Now, it's yet to be confirmed if the pets in this game will likewise be barking and meowing in the vernacular Simlish as well. Hah! We kid. Check out more treats and tricks for The Sims 2: Pets below: |

Too bad for you non-Sims fans (heathens!), this author can't help but gush every time The Sims is being mentioned. We heard another exciting news from a source about The Sims. Apparently, The Sims 2: Pets is being developed for the Wii! Last year, The Sims 2: Pets was released for the Nintendo Gamecube and other platforms. The game didn't do so well on the Cube, and it isn't surprising that The Sims developer Electronic Arts would bring the game over to Nintendo's next-gen. Only recently we brought you details of the new Sims title, My Sims, coming to the Wii and the DS. My Sims is more of a simulation/RPG but The Sims 2: Pets will have pets in it! We remember our Pet Sims moments. It's fun, but will the gameplay ever improve on the Wii? We can imagine using the Wiimote to throw the Frisbee to the dog, even to fill-in the holes that Fluffy dug up in the yard. And just a last question: will Hilary Duff and Lola still be there? |
