What's up this week down under? A whole new bunch of gaming treats from Nintendo. This week will see a couple of title launches for the Wii, while there's seven new games for you to pick up for your DS.The two new titles for the Wii are Mario Strikers Charged, which lands in Australia with online multiplayer capabilities, and the odd royal gang from the land of Far Away, Shrek the Third. As for the DS titles, take your pick from the list below:

It's got crude humor and cartoon violence, but with Mike Myers at the helm, we couldn't expect anything other than that. That being said...crude humor and cartoon violence ROCK.
We picked up a new video for Activision's Shrek the Third video game that focuses on introducing the different characters you'll be playing as. In this case, besides the usual mainstays, such as Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and Puss, they're also introducing Sleeping Beauty and Artie as new playable characters. You'll be able to see the characters running and trying out their kung fu against some foes, but more importantly, you'll simply be glad to see them. It's short, it's sweet, and it's fun for the kids to watch. Bring your kids (or younger siblings) to the computer, and just bask in a few moments of 3D-animated cartoon mayhem. Enjoy! |

As of the other day, Activision had already released Shrek the Third for the Wii, 360, PC, PS2, DS, and GBA. Now if you're not yet sure whether to get the video game, you have two options right now. Option #1 being that you watch the movie first when it comes out in the theaters (May 18 in the U.S.), and, based on your silver screen experience, decide whether you want to further immerse yourself in Far Far Away right at your living room. Or...
Option #2 being that you take a good look at the video we've got below. Like we always say, screenshots can only go so far (far away - teehee). Videos, now that's something else entirely. In this gameplay montage, we see two of the many playable characters in action: Shrek himself and Puss in Boots. Putting the "Arrrr" in "pirates," the two protagonists show these hooligans who's boss. Now is it just me, or did Puss drink some enlargement potion or something? He's looking twice - maybe even thrice - the size that he really is... |

While the Shrek the Third movie isn't expected to hit the theaters this May 18 (June 29 for Europe), it appears publisher Activision has decided to press on with releasing its game port. The publisher has just announced that the Shrek the Third game for the PS2, Wii, DS, Xbox 360 and PC is now out in retail, ready to plucked up by North America's Ogre-loving populace. Now, in case you haven't been keeping in touch of this game (or the movie), this latest installment to the franchise has Shrek and Fiona attempting to rule over their kingdom of Far Far Away. But when King Harold - Fiona's father- falls ill and is dying, it's up to Shrek to bring Arthur (Fiona's cousin) back to Far Far Away as the kingdom's most promising candidate for king. Aside from being able to use Shrek, players will also be introduced to two new faces based on the film: Arthur (aka Artie), and Sleeping Beauty. The game is expected to carry gamers through 20 levels, as they encounter one parodied fairy tale character after another. This multi-platform game is expected to sell to the 360 and Wii for US$ 49.99, the PS2 for US$ 39.99, the GBA and DS for US$ 29.99, and the PC for US$ 19.99. Shrek the Third's PSP port is expected to launch early this June, at an expected retail price of US$ 39.99. |

The kingdom of Far Far away is in need of a new leader, after the Frog Prince who turned into King Harold (who turned back into the Frog Prince - you know the story) fell ill. 'Course, our big green ogre opts to save the day, but what of his beloved swamp?
Thus the adventures of Shrek and his friends begin, in the movie, and on the upcoming multi-platform game tie-in of Shrek the Third. Players will be able to play as Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Fiona, Artie (Fiona's rebellious cousin), and Sleeping Beauty. There will be tons of exciting levels and locations, as well as exclusive game content. The game releases May 2007, receiving an E10+ rating. Here are even more screen shots of Shrek The Third - we know you can't get enough of 'em. The screens are for the Xbox 360, the DS and the Wii respectively. More screens await after the jump! |

The Jolly Green Giant is back. Nope, not the Hulk (Ultimate Alliance has him), but the "other" guy - Shrek's back again, and if you haven't seen the trailer yet, you might wanna check it out. Activision's just announced the lineup of development studios that will be backing the game up as Shrek the Third makes its multi-platform launch in May - just enough time for you to see them movie version when it hits theatres this March. Here's the developers:
For them to return to their swamp, Shrek, Donkey (Eddie Murphy), and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) must go on a journey to find the lost heir, all the while as Fiona defends the Far Far Away Kingdom from a coup d 'etat launched by Prince Charming (Rupert Everett). |

"When a kingdom's in trouble, only one Ogre can save the day!" On Day 7 of Microsoft's Bringing it Home trailers galore, we did mention about a Shrek video that will soon be released. As a matter of fact, the trailer that you can download here hasn't even been rated, but will be released by Activision on May 2007. Shrek the Third lets you play as Shrek, flip out as Donkey, take a spin as Puss in Boots and journey with all new friends, on an epic new quest. The game takes you beyond the kingdom and into the adventures of a new royal hero. High-def graphics unveiled new adventures that took only just over half a minute of in-game sequences. In case you're wondering, the game will be available on PC, Xbox 360, PS2, Wii, and DS. Download: [Shrek the Third trailer] |
