If you fancy another romp through the history of Resident Evil but want it a bit more up-close and personal, then the upcoming on-rails shooter from Capcom on the Nintendo Wii, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, is right up your alley. And here to get us better acquainted with the series' more interesting monsters (besides your usual bog standard mindless brain-eating zombie) is this latest trailer video of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles in action.

While we can all mourn the fact that Resident Evil 2 was left out of the mix (playing as Leon with the Custom Shotgun would have been dead awesome), it's still great to see the bosses of Resident Evil lore get their own next-gen makeovers courtesy of the Nintendo Wii. And viewing them in third person lends a bit more intimacy in the entire thing - you're not viewing them through a third person perspective, you're actually playing as the person that they want to eat/maim/kill/play zombie kissy-face with. Ouch, no teeth!

In any case, check out the video at the embed below. Enjoy!

Famitsu gives more Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (by Capcom for the Wii) love in its latest issue, and this time its the medic Rebecca Chambers in the spotlight. These new scans offer a peek on some cutscenes within the game, as well as some screenshots of gameplay footage that features cute Rebecca going against the giant hairy spider, and a snake on steroids (look out behind you, Rebecca!).

Resident Evil franchise fans will most probably remember her as the Team Bravo medic who made her first appearance in the first Resident Evil game, where she played her role as Chris Redfield's potion mixer and piano player. Rebecca also made her debut as a main character in Resident Evil Zero for the GameCube along with ex-convict Billy Coen, as shown in this Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles gameplay clip.

Even if we could barely decipher the Japanese text on the scans, the screenshots and art included at worth looking at. Do click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images!

Resident Evil fans awaiting the release of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles by Capcom for the Wii should check out this video re-living the adventures of Team Bravo medic Rebecca Chambers and escaped convict Billy Coen from Game Cube's Resident Evil Zero. We can see in this video that aside from the "partner zapping" gameplay, the Wiimote's controls provide more intense action in the game.

Check out the skin-crawling gameplay in the video below featuring knives, guns, zombies and leeches:

With this kind of creepy gore, its no wonder that Germany did not provide a rating for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, effectively banning it from being sold in German soil, while it got an 18+ rating from the PEGI (Pan European Game Information). But with other regions, fans of the horror genre will be in for a treat upon Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicle's release for the Nintendo Wii console.

Today we have another video update for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. This time, the spotlight is on the different weapons found in the game and the havoc they wreak on the undead baddies that just happen to fall within players' line of fire. Check out the video embedded below.

Capcom's resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is currently slated for a November 15 release in the U.S. The game was recently rated 18+ in Europe and, unfortunately for German gamers, was banned in Germany. Keep checking back here on QJ.NET for more updates.

Capcom's Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii - Image 1If you thought that the Nintendo Wii isn't bad-ass enough for you with all its kiddie and educational titles, you might have to do a double-take. Its exclusive shooting prospect Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles from Capcom has been rated 18+ by European ratings board Pan European Game Information (PEGI) to stop kids from getting their hands on it.

Worse, Germany dealt a harder blow to one of Capcom's most celebrated franchises as Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles was denied a rating in Germany, effectively banning its sale in one of the world's major gaming markets.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is one of Capcom's biggest up-and-coming offerings and is an anticipated support game for the launch of the high-profile Wii Zapper peripheral. It takes players back through the Resident Evil series starting from Resident Evil Zero down to the fall of the Umbrella Corporation in between Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Resident Evil 4. The game also marks a first in the Resident Evil franchise in the sense that it's an on-rails shooter rather than the traditional survival horror experience.

Here's a new trailer video for upcoming Nintendo Wii game Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles featuring Albert Wesker. He was first introduced in the first Resident Evil video game and has been established as one of the main antagonists. He was both a researcher for the Umbrella Corporation and an operative of the Raccoon Police Department.

Umbrella Chronicles marks the first time Albert Wesker becomes a playable character in the main storyline of a Resident Evil game. In this installment, all his true roles in past and current storylines will finally be revealed. The game will also show the crucial part he played in the fall of the Umbrella Corporation.

Capcom's Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles will be released on November 15. While waiting for other updates, just enjoy watching the video clip below.

Heads up, hardcore Resident Evil fans. Capcom has just announced another piece of official swag to add to your collections. According to the online version of Japanese video game magazine Famitsu, Capcom will be giving gamers who pre-order a copy of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles through e-Capcom.com a fancy Umbrella Corporation wallet.

This new collector's item is the latest in a number of limited editions that the company has rolled out for its Resident Evil video game franchise. Just last week we reported about a Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles collector's edition bundle that includes a Wii Zapper, a 28-page book called Wesker's Report and a bunch of stickers.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii home video game console hits Japan on November 15 and the U.S. on November 13.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl's delayed release date sent many a Brawler wailing and gnashing their teeth, but its good to know that there's somebody who is actually happy about the game not getting stuffed into Christmas socks this holiday season: Capcom. At least, that's what the industry analysts are saying.

With no Super Smash Bros. Brawl to look forward to in the holiday season, Wii gamers will be diverted to other titles such as Super Mario Galaxy, Zack and Wiki, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. The last two titles are published by Capcom.

The industry analysts from GamerMetrics said that Zack and Wiki should be snapped up by the younger set, while older games will while their time away with Resident Evil. Of course, Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy will most probably become such a hit for both older and younger gamers.

Being great games in their own rights, these games should be more than enough to make the wait for Brawl more bearable.

The collector's edition of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles comes with a bunch of bonus stuff. Unfortunately it's only been announced for Japan and there's no guarantee (or news, or a hint, or a mention in passing) that the bundle will be reaching the shores of the rest of the world.

Those of us who would like to torture ourselves anyway would be interested to know that the collector's edition includes the Wii Zapper, a 28-page book called Wesker's Extra Report and stickers. The whole thing will cost JP¥ 8,610 (US$ 74).

The game is slated to be released in Japan this November 15, in the US on November 13, in Australia on November 30 and in Europe on December 13.

The Wii Zapper certainly is quite the innovation from Nintendo. Not just a mere housing shell for the Wiimote and Nunchuck, it gives a player that added sense of immersion, that he's actually handling a firearm. This comes largely into play with shooting games on the Nintendo Wii like Capcom's Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Let's look at how this baby handles through a video game that pits you against the series' hordes of zombies in this demonstration video, shall we?

Looking at the gameplay, it seems that your movements with the Wii Zapper is translated very accurately into the game. There's a particular ease with aiming for headshots, as well as grenade-launching. Switching weapons in real time seems to be pretty quick as well, not to mention picking up items.

One little quirk we couldn't help but notice was the rather ungainly movement of reloading - which, of course, is giving the entire Wii Zapper a brief shake. We've seen this in action with The House of the Dead 4, where you had to reload by shaking your submachine gun. Of course, the Wii Zapper is different from the arcade peripheral, and with the Wiimote and Nunchuck docked onto it, it'd be quite awkward to shake the Zapper to reload over and over with the same movement.

Of course, we also can't help but notice that Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles itself looks totally awesome, and reloading quirk or not, it's going to be a blast to play with the Wii Zapper. Updates as we get them, and you can check out the video in full at the read link below.
