Video Games - Image 1Worried about the possibility of video game violence tainting the minds of children, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy came up with a "do not buy" list of violent video games.

Contrary to what most might expect, Rockstar Games' controversial Manhunt 2 (Wii, Sony PlayStation Portable) isn't the number one violent video game, but Grand Theft Auto is. Check out the Top Ten list in the full article.

Capcom announced today that it has successfully shipped a total of one million Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition copies worldwide making the Nintendo Wii game one of the most successful video games on the platform today. This brings the total sales for the Resident Evil video game franchise up to 33 million since it first came out back in 1996.

The Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 is actually remake of one originally released on Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. The story revolves around Raccoon City incident survivor Leon Kennedy and his quest to rescue the president's daughter Ashley Gramm. Other returning characters in this iteration include Ada Wong and Jack Krauser.

Capcom added that the success of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition lies in the already installed fan base of the series. Aside from attracting former players, the use of motion-sensing controllers also provided a new dimension that made the new gamers curious about this title.

Due to expectations for high sales rate from their Nintendo Wii titles, Capcom's stock climbed to a high 6.3 percent in the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It is the gaming mogul's highest mark since September 26, 2002. Capcom's stock rose to a total 14 percent for the past two days.

Their highest-selling titles include those of the Resident Evil franchise, whose Resident Evil 4 was included in the list of Top 10 titles in Japan, as well as in the US, for the month of June. Capcom is also banking on the horror franchise to exceed its shipment target of 620,000 units in March 31, according to Jay Defibaugh, an analyst at Credit Suisse Group.

To date, Capcom's stock has reached 33 percent for this year.

We Love Golf! - Image 1In its latest press release, giant publisher Capcom has announced that it is currently developing a game called We Love Golf! (formerly Wii Love Golf) for the Nintendo Wii in cooperation with Camelot.

Camelot Software Planning is credited for developing hits from the Hot Shots Golf series as well as the fun Mario Golf under the Nintendo publishing umbrella.

We Love Golf! heralds the entry of Capcom in the sports development arena, marking the first time that the company has ventured into the genre. Ready your golf clubs, We Love Golf! will be coming to the shelves this winter.

Also announced were solid shipping figures for Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition worldwide with 750,000 units shipped at the end of August. Resident Evil 4 is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, gathering praise on every platform it has been ported to through rave reviews of trusted sites.

Nintendo consoles dominated Canadian charts last June - Image 1We guess you are all familiar with software and hardware sales pointing out Nintendo's dominance in Japan as well as some countries in the West with its Wii and DS consoles. This next one still concerns charts actions but is set in a different market: Canada.

Yup, be proud because it looks like Nintendo is indeed taking the whole world by storm and the way things are going, it has no plans of slowing down. Based from the recent data provided to Canadian press members, June belonged to Nintendo as it secured the top three software spots, not to mention 10 titles being included in the top 12.

Mario Party 8 is the most preferred game by our Canadian friends, followed closely by Wii Play. The number three position was occupied by Pokemon Pearl while its twin Pokemon Diamond ended on the fifth spot. On the other hand, the number four position was taken by Xbox 360 racing game Forza Motorsport 2.

The highest entry to the June chart was Capcom's Resident Evil 4 at number seven, which is not actually a surprise given the game's success lately. If you want to go further into the charts, two more Nintendo games made it to the top 20 bringing the total to 12.

The remaining eight spots were shared by Xbox 360 with three titles, four PlayStation 2 games, and just one for the PlayStation 3.

When a game gets 38 from a Famitsu review, you just know it's one of those must haves. Even the other way around, there is no reason to miss out on Capcom's Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. Got the game on other consoles, you say? This video review from Gametrailers might convince you to relive the horror.

Having no bonus content does not stop anyone from having a fresh experience with the Wii controls. Using the Wiimote like a Lightgun to shoot Las Plagas is enough to know that gameplay this time will be a notch up from traditional controllers. Aside from somewhat stiff 180-degree turns (which is a Resident Evil trademark), RE4: Wii Edition promises to make dispatching crazed Spanish villagers easier than preparing burritos.

Here's what Gametrailers have to say:

Resident Evil 4 packshot - Image 1And now for something that brings a smile to our face (more than an RPG). Capcom has just sent out a press wire announcing that their much-awaited Resident Evil 4 game for the Wii is now shipping to every black-hooded merchant in the region (ergo, retailers).

The game has already been enjoying some pretty good pre-release reviews from sites all around, and is a remake of the RE4 game originally for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube.

This latest installment will have players making full use of the Wiimote's motion-sensitive controls to take the gameplay to an even higher degree of immersion, whether it involves capping a marauding Ashley right between the eyes, or rescuing the perpetually inept Los Ganados...or was it other way around?

Resident Evil 4 for the Wii is rated M by the ESRB, and should be available for US$ 29.99 pesetas.

Can't get enough of Resident Evil 4's intrepid hero, Leon? Well, we have another batch of gameplay videos for the Wii outing of the action adventure title.

In these gameplay videos for Capcom's Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, we see Leon attacked by the crazed villagers. Their weapons of choice are still the proverbial pitchforks and farm implements but they've also learned to use dynamite and chainsaws so you might want to watch out for those. We also see the zombies that just refuse to die unless you empty an entire clip on their skulls. Oh, and don't let their sheer numbers distract you.

Anyway, we won't spoil the fun for you. You know the drill, just click play.

Another gameplay video after the jump!

Resident Evil 4 - Image 1Will Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition for North America be censored or not? This is the question bugging the fans of the franchise, ever since a rumor arose some time ago that North American gamers will be seeing less gore (hence less fun) with their version.

Well, to finally control the rumor, Siliconera's Spencer emailed Capcom regarding the matter, and this is the response he got: "The previous versions of RE4 had these minor differences as well (US vs Japan), so nothing has changed." Alright, so it's not really a censorship per se. It's just like all those other games when there were differences in content depending on which region it was for.

So, you may then expect to find Resident Evil 4's Japanese version similar to the  censored Gamecube version, while the North American version will be getting the same uncensored content. Whopedoo!
