Mudkip Pokemon - Image 1More E For All good news: it looks like Pokemon fans are in for a treat, since an unnamed developer for the Pokemon games disclosed that there's a new Pokemon title still under wraps for now. The good news? Its going to be an RPG for the Wii. It's not yet known if this will be a sequel to the Pokemon Battle Revolution, so do check this space for more info.

The same anonymous developer also mentioned the reason why there's no Pokemon role-playing title for the Nintendo Wii console recently: its because Nintendo has decided to maximize the "pokemon-trading" aspect afforded by handheld consoles, such as the Nintendo DS and Gameboy Advance. The trend is going to change if the rumor is true, so Wii owners should expect a new "Catch 'em all!" series on their Wii soon.

Certainly an interesting update. Stay tuned for more updates! We might actually already be seeing the early beginnings of the eventual Pokemon Farm.

Nintendo of America Ltd. has come out with a press release stating that the strong sales of both the Wii and Nintendo DS have helped strengthen one of their major franchises, namely Pokemon. This isn't a one way thing though, as the popularity of the franchise also helped in the selling of consoles.

Wii and DS sales strengthen Pokemon sales - Image 1

As a testament to the the franchise's popularity on both consoles, DS exclusives Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have already sold three million copies in the U.S. while Pokemon Battle Revolution is currently the fifth best selling game on the Wii. Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications George Harrison commented on this symbiotic relationship:

These hard numbers show that the Pokemon franchise and Nintendo's systems are striking a chord with players of all ages and drawing in huge numbers of new players year after year. But anecdotally we're also seeing that these new Pokemon games are appealing to older players, the same ones who played the original Pokemon games when they debuted in the United States almost 10 years ago.

Historically speaking, Pokemon has always had a strong following ever since it debuted in Japan. The numbers have swelled since then as more countries have been invaded by the Pokemon craze. The number of fans are still climbing as of this article's writing so it's pretty safe to assume that we can expect to hear more good things from this franchise.

Pokemon Battle Revolution - Image 1Pokémon Battle Revolution for the Nintendo Wii video game console launches today, and it brings with it quite a number of firsts. Apart from being the first Pokémon title for the Wii, this game is also the first online Wii game in the Americas. This title is also the first Wii game to let players wirelessly link to a Nintendo DS and use it as a controller.

"Already more than 2 million copies of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl have sold in the United States alone," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications.

"The arrival of Pokémon Battle Revolution brings those players a whole new set of challenges and, for the first time on Wii, online battles."

Check it out. Because, you know, you really gotta catch 'em all.

Pokemon Battle Revolution website now up - Image 1

As the first Wii game to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection (as well as the first game to incorporate the Wii-DS connection), Pokemon Battle Revolution stays true with its title and will bring Wii-owners nothing but a revolution in itself. So, have you guys been beefing up your Pokemon army in Diamond and Pearl? It's time to take them from your handheld to the TV screen in this Wii battle arena.

And your central hub? The official Nintendo Wi-Fi site for Pokemon Battle Revolution, of course. Since the game's rolling out in a couple of days from now, nintendowifi.com goes live early with a page dedicated to Battle Rev. It now joins the lineup of other Nintendo Wi-Fi titles like Tetris DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Final Fantasy III.

There's not much content in the hub just yet. But come June 25 (that's the game's release in North America), you can expect lots of info, player stats, and charts. Now in case that rumor about Nintendo banning accounts of players who've cheated on Pokemon using Action Replay turns out to be true, we suggest you take heed in starting out your Wii journey in Poke-landia.

You can check out the online hub via the Read link below.

Pokemon Battle Revolution pack shot - Image 1We will all be soon choosing Pikachu once more as we get closer to the release date of video game Pokemon Battle Revolution. Basically, you've almost seen and heard everything about this title: from its amazingly unique features, various screenshots, and even a number of gameplay videos.

Yup, many of you have seen everything save for one: what the game's box art looks like. Just one glance at the packshot will remind fans about DS games Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl - a constant reminder that the this Wii title can be controlled using Nintendo's handheld console.

Aside from just controlling Pokemon Battle Revolution with the DS, players also have the option to import their characters from the above-mentioned DS titles. Seeing how Pearl and Diamond are doing well, we have to say that this is a well-thought-out strategy for Nintendo.

Pokemon Battle Revolution will be released this coming June 25, 2007.

We caught what seems to be the first English ad of the much-awaited Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Nintendo Wii. The Wii's fan base is growing exponentially and Nintendo is pulling out all the stops to keep their audience happy at all times with fantastic first-party titles. Will Battle Revolution be as successful as its Nintendo cousins? It seems to be going towards that direction. Check this vid out:

As you can see, the video shows a little of how players will be able to give commands to their cute pets. Pikachu and the rest of the gang are all back and everyone's spoiling for a fight. Prepare to find out once more who the champ is.

The in-game visuals are looking nice, too. The details seem pretty smooth, movements are flawless and the special effects for special attacks seem kid-friendly. Overall, this is a prospect that's worthy of the hype surrounding it.

Here's a treat for all Pokemaniacs: the Nintendo Media Summit 07 Pokemon Battle Revolution trailer, which offers us a sneak peek at just what's in store for us when the highly-anticipated title blasts its way onto the Nintendo Wii.

In the trailer, we see quite a few familiar faces - mainly Pokemon Diamond's and Pokemon Pearl's iconic trainers, fully realized in glorious, sharp-looking 3D. And while it's already confirmed that there's no other gameplay to Pokemon Battle Revolution other than the Pokemon battles themselves, it's still good to see that the main aspect of Pokemon - namely battling - is given the next-gen treatment, and beautifully so.

Minor quirks aside, there's no doubt about it: Pokemon Battle Revolution takes Pokemon battling to the next level. Updates as we get them, and in the meantime, enjoy the video!

Pokemon Battle Revolution - Image 1

We're taking Codename Revolution's advice and taking this post with a grain of salt. We recommend that you guys do the same. Codename Revolution reports on a rumor that the UK version of Pokemon Battle Revolution will not have Friend Codes has surfaced on the IGN Boards.

This info was posted by IGN Boards member foxrmf. Foxrmf said that he came across the information on the latest issue of UK videogames magazine NGamer. The same poster also said that the same magazine says that Nintendo and Square Enix are in talks about the whole Friend Codes system. Nintendo will allegedly remove the need for Friend Codes if a game has an Adult rating.

Anybody out there with a copy of the latest NGamer on hand? Leave a comment below and let us know if this story is indeed true. We'll be monitoring the forum thread closely, so check back here for updates.

True to his word, foxrmf has uploaded scans of the NGamer magazine in question, and they indeed say that the UK version of Pokemon Battle Revolution will not require Friend Codes. Here's a direct quote from the mag:

Pokemon Battle Revolution, which is already online-enabled in Japan, will be the first English networked game when the translation is released in the summer, and without requiring the separate, game-specific friend codes that dogged the Japanese version.

Looks like it's legit. Thanks to Zak1392 for giving us the heads up on the scans. Click the full article link below to see the mag scans:
