Wii Play - Image 1Nintendo may not have the most technologically powerful home console in this generation, but they are definitely top dog when it comes to sales. In North America, the company has not one, not two, but three games in the decade's top five best selling games list, including the one at the top spot.

Gaming consolesAnd yet even more (online) publications are rolling out their "best of 2008" lists. Following the rather compromising list from Time Magazine comes another one from Seattle Times. Though the list seems questionable of their credibility in video games evaluation (well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, right?), the awards they've given out are still well-deserved of the games they've listed.

PSP 3000 - Image 1Enterbrain of Japan has finished tallying their results for the total hardware and software sales for the period of March 31 to September 28. This time period marks the first half of 2008's fiscal year in Japan.

So who's on top? If you're asking hardware, that'd be the PSP. Over one and a half million units sold, man! Meanwhile, on the software side of things, it's a different story.

NPD Group data: GTA4, MGS4, SSBB... - Image 1The NPD Group has released a compiled list of the top five best-selling games for each of the consoles. The report tracks sales data from the start of this year all the way up until August. Wondering which games made it to the lists? I'm sure some of you won't be surprised to see this or that title part of the list. Lots of acronym-friendly games chucked in, of course!

Media Create - Image 1The Sony PSP once again proves that it is now the king of the Japanese hardware hill by keeping its top spot in the Japanese hardware sales chart for the week of July 21to 27. The Nintendo DS follows, with a bevy of software crowding the top 50 software sales chart...and yes,  Dragon Quest V is still top dog among other games. The list in the full article.

DBZ: Burst Limit - Image 1Before solid snakes... Super Saiyans! Though MGS4 still isn't accounted for in these charts, it's still quite a view to behold. For the week June 2 to June 8, 2008, the PS3 version of Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit took the top spot, while the Xbox 360 is making its presence felt in the frequently Nintendo-dominated charts. The numbers for the week of May 5 to May 11 revealed that both Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii and Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G are once again the top charting titles in the country.
