Star Wars - Image 1Cutting up people with a sword on your Nintendo Wii may be fun, but doing the same thing with a lightsaber is tons better. Unfortunately, it may be a while before we may be able to do it, as Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga developer Jonathan Smith from TTGames says that making a 1:1 lightsaber game for the Nintendo Wii is not as easy at it sounds, it will take some time before someone comes up with a way to accurately translate a Wiimote's movements into the graceful and deadly art of lightsaber combat.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Image 1As promised, developer TT Games brought Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS) to GameCity 2007 in Nottingham. Producer Jonathan Smith showcased some of the features of the upcoming game, particularly the many ways to play using the Wii.

According to Smith, there's been confusion about having a light saber peripheral for Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga's iteration on Nintendo's console. TT Games has no plans to release a light saber, but he jokingly duct-taped a Wii Remote to his son's light saber before saying, "Here is the Wii light saber, TM. Anyone can make one of these at home."

Smith believes it wouldn't be easy for gamers to go through Lego Star Wars with a Wii light saber because they're not Jedi, but there are still some moves they can pull off. One is grapple feature, which allows players to move from one grapple point to another by flicking the Wiimote upwards.

From what we've previously heard, this Lego flavored Star Wars title will include all six movies in the saga. What's interesting to note is that there'll be 120 playable characters and you'll be able mix things up a bit by placing them where they're not supposed to be. With online co-op for the 360 and PS3 versions, fun awaits if we can put Luke and Anakin fighting side by side.

Those who are still baffled over the controls of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga need not look any further. A video focusing on how the controls are done is finally released, and it's safe to say that the game is looking good and incredibly fun as well.

Previous videos show that the Wiimote is used for making precise sword movements, and this video clip here demonstrates how the sword swings are actually done. As for other controls, waggling the Nunchuk is done to get more goodies out of objects, while using the Nunchuk and the Wiimote together can move certain objects.

Well, it's better to watch the video than reading about it, so go ahead and click on the Play button for the video below. Oh, check out the dancing chairs while you're at it, too.

Certainly an interesting update for LucasArt's Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for Nintendo Wii. Stay tuned for more!

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga Wii to have co-op online play? - Image 1One of the most appreciated features of Lego Star Wars video games is its co-op gameplay scheme. For those who've yet to try any of the already released titles, a second player is allowed to come in any time in the game and then drop out any time he/she wishes it.

Now, online site Nintencast found a box art for the Wii version of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (also on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS) that sports Nintendo's WiFi logo at the box's top left corner. Imagine the above mentioned gameplay scheme being used online - that, my friends, is going to be a blast.

But the thing is, Nintencast failed to clarify the validity of the box art. The said site just said that the box in question "seems" to be the one for Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga Wii. No sources were named either. We checked LucasArts' and Travellers Tales' online site for the game and found nothing as well.

As much as this is an interesting development, we would to hear more concrete things from the developers themselves. All versions of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga will be released on November 7.

Lighstaber combat game coming after Lego Star Wars Wii - Image 1When it comes to the Wii version of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (also on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo DS), owners of Nintendo's shiny white console will have some sort of an advantage over other gamers because the Wiimote can be used as an actual lightsaber.

Quite curiously, it seems that this is just the beginning of great things to come for Wii users and Star Wars fanatics alike. During Activision's Activate Asia Pacific conference, LucasArts' Quality Assurance officer Mark Montuya commented that the game's motion-sensitive lightsaber action is "just a taster" for a future release involving motion-sensitive lightsaber combat.

Montuya, however, didn't elaborate on how this so-called "lightsaber combat" will be manifested in-game, much less how a clashing between two Wiimotes will be portrayed on the screen. Despite the lack of information, it's good to know that LucasArts is brewing something special for the Star Wars video game franchise.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga will be available on all platforms this coming November 7.

More details and screenshots on LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Image 1

LucasArts and Traveller's Tales' LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS) allows gamers to relive all six Star Wars chapters in a very unique way. After playing through the initial releases of the game, I can openly say seeing a Lego Chewbacca carry C3P0 on his back is a dream come true for any Star Wars geek.

The game introduces new levels, characters and features not found in the LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy making this worth picking up even if you have the first two games. The levels added include Episode II's high-speed pursuit of bounty hunter Zam Wessel. In addition to this, the Mos Espa Pod Race and Gunship Cavalry have been redesigned making it less linear than before.

The game will be relatively unique for every platform. Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be getting online two-player co-op play. The Wii version will obviously be getting Waggle, while the DS version of the game will be taking advantage of the handheld's touchscreen.

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga would make a solid addition to any gaming library. If you're planning on picking this up for yourself or a loved one, the game is slated to be released this September 11.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Image 1We'll be taking a short break from the recent flow of  Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS) gameplay videos to bring in some words from the developers, Travellers Tales (TT).

Richard Earl of TT stated they're very happy to know that they seem to be perceived to be among the upper echelon of game makers for the Star Wars franchise.

On a related note, Mr. Earl further reiterated on their healthy working relationship with LucasArts. The publisher was reportedly helpful during the production and marketing phase, and were also very open to TT's own line of humor for the upcoming game.

As for TT's feelings regarding the expected Wiimote controls:

We’re very excited that this will be the very first time that players can brandish the wii-mote as if it were a lightsaber!  You’ll also be able to use the wii-mote to activate some of the other character’s functions which gives the player a whole new level of control.
With the DS version we’ve built the game from entirely from scratch so as to really take advantage of the little machine’s great functions.  As well as having some DS exclusive mini-games that make use of the stylus & touch screen we’ve also incorporated the touch screen into the normal gameplay.  For example, if you want to use ‘force-push’ you can do so with a simple flick of your thumb!

Moving on from Lego Star Wars, the developer also injected some info snippets for Lego Batman, and Lego Indiana Jones. As Earl explained, the Batman game is expected to be "a whole lot cooler than the 60s TV show," and was expected to be out next year (2008). Indiana Jones was expected to come out summer next year as well.

Last on the agenda were TT's future plans. The dev studio stated that they currently have no plans for creating new IP at the moment, explaining that doing so was often the downfall of several successful developers.
