Victorious Boxers: Revolution - Image 1Fight fans, you better get ready for a few rounds in the squared circle. XSEED Games has just announced an official release date for their Wii boxing title, Victorious Boxers: Revolution. Get your pens and mark your calendars. Victorious Boxers: Revolution will be hitting North America in a couple of weeks - October 16 to be exact.

Known in Japan as Hajime no Ippo: Revolution, Victorious Boxers: Revolution is a boxing game based on the long-running Japanese manga and anime series Hajime no Ippo. Just like the other games in the Ippo franchise, Victorious Boxers: Revolution will have a sizable stable of characters for players to choose from.

Those familiar with Wii Sports' boxing game will find the first of the three control schemes in Victorious Boxers: Revolution easy to grasp. The second control scheme involves using the Wiimote to draw patterns in the air. The third and last method goes old school: players use either a Wii Classic Controller or a GameCube controller to control the characters on-screen.

Victorious Boxers: Revolution
will be available for a suggested retail price of US$ 39.99.

While success stories in anime have always been a dime a dozen, there has always been something special with Ippo's. From a nobody, he grew up to become a feared competitor in the squared circle, with hard work and determination the two key elements of his survival in the world of modern-day boxing.

Now, XSEED Games lets us Wii owners experience every step of the way of Ippo's journey in Victorious Boxers: Revolution, and this trailer video of the game sees us off right.

One thing's for sure we can see in this trailer - this is not Wii Boxing. The visuals are striking, with the sharp cel-shading giving the whole game an anime-in-3D effect. The animations look brutal, the impact shots painful, and every major hit is focused on with a slow-motion scene that literally bleeds epic.

With awesome motion-sensing controls, a highly-emotional storyline, and an underdog male lead who will fight with everything he's worth whoever his opponent, Victorious Boxers: Revolution looks set to be a knockout. Enjoy the video!

Victorious Boxers: Revolution website - Image 1

Time to lace up those gloves and get back into fighting form as the latest boxing title for the Nintendo Wii, XSEED Games' Victorious Boxers: Revolution, recently opened up shop on the interwebs with its official website. If you thought you could hack it with your over 1000 Professional rating in Wii Sports Boxing, then you have your work cut out for you in the game that follows young Ippo's journey in the boxing world.

Like other official videogame websites, Victorious Boxers: Revolution's web presence provides the player with a lot of information on the get-go, with character profiles, game features, a story synopsis, and a handful of trailers to watch.

But what's definitely a must-see is the Controls section of the website, where you not only get to see just how you'll be able to perform the basic punches and moves, but also the devastating signature punches of each fighter - with videos!

Victorious Boxers: Revolution is definitely looking to be the definitive boxing title for the Wii. Updates as we get them, and you can check out the website by clicking on the Read link below.

The last time we heard about Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting Revolution, we discovered that it'll be punching its way to North American shores by the end of September. Now, we get a sneak peek of the game's translated version, Victorious Boxers: Revolution, through this video interview - and so far things are looking pretty good indeed for our stalwart Ippo and the mucsclebound opponents he'll be facing off with in the squared circle.

In this video interview, we get the backgrounder of the game's storyline from Jimmy Soga, Assistant Marketing Manager of XSEED Games, as well as a few handy tips on just how we'll have to move in order for the Wii to properly detect our punches, hooks and uppercuts.

If you've worked out with Wii Sports' boxing section, you'll be glad to know that it's pretty much the same, although when it comes to uppercuts and hooks, you'll have to do some elbow work besides the usual punching and jabbing.

What's remarkable about this game, however, is how the dubbed English voices sound like - and so far, they carry over the intensity of the commentators in the original anime. No flat, wooden performances here - the emotion is there, the urgency is there, and with the game's visuals staying faithful to the original material, it's an immersive experience.

No more spoilers from us, enjoy the video!

Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution - Image 1XSeed Games has announced that Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution will be hitting Nintendo Wii video game consoles in North America this fall. The game was released in Japan last month.

Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution is the latest video game based on Jyoji Morikawa's long-running manga and anime series. The game will let players use the Wiimote to execute the boxing moves of the 25 different characters in the game. The game will also feature the following gameplay options:
  • Point and Click - In this mode, players point and click with the Wiimote on where they want to attack.
  • Player Action - Similar to Wii Boxing, players will use the Wiimote to execute punches, weaving, and footwork in this mode.
  • Classic Controller mode - This mode is for players who want to stick to good old button pressing and mashing when facing off against their opponents.

This gameplay video's title is very much appropriate. If you've watched the "Hajime no Ippo" anime, read the manga, or just fancied being a boxing sensation like Makunouchi Ippo, you'd want to watch this clip.

The Boxing Sensation Gameplay video taken from Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution focuses on how the boxer probably became a sensation in the field of boxing. It shows Ippo's humble beginnings as he was introduced by boxing champ Takamura Mamoru to the Kamogawa Gym members. The video also shows Ippo's second match with Miyata Ichiro where Ippo wins "by one centimeter". And all "Hajime no Ippo" fans know that this match fueled the rivalry between the two boxers.

Ippo's one-two combination is shown in the match, as well as his deadly uppercut. The video also shows his initial training with Takamura where he was asked to grab 10 falling leaves from a tree before they reached the ground. Ah, Ippo's beautiful jabs...

Watch the clip and see what we're talking about. You can check out our previous posts for gameplay details on AQ Interactive's Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting Revolution for the Wii. The game's already been released in Japan, and although there wasn't any announcement about the game's release in North America and Europe, we're free to hope that it arrives in this side of the world. For now, let's just enjoy the video.

Hajime no Ippo's latest trailer certainly has us smiling. Not only does playing the game look intense in this trailer; they also took the time to get real boxers to try the game out.

You read that right. They got real Japanese boxers to try AQ Interactive's game out, and you can see them trying out their own fighting styles against the computer with the help of the Wiimote and Nunchuk. Strangely enough, it also equalizes the chances of each fighter playing the game, since no matter the gender or age of the player, it'll take skill to outmaneuver your opponent in the game while the computer takes care of the power your in-game boxer gets.

In any case, here's the trailer for you. Expect the game to come out this June 21 in Japan. Enjoy!

Hajime no Ippo fans, we've got more screens coming your way, thanks to Famitsu. This time, however, we've got a few hints on how the game modes will turn out. But since we're still missing our in-house translator and are using the weblator, we're not really so sure in how to go about it (describing the game's protagonist as "Itagaki fighting potatoes" should give you a hint of the translator's accuracy).

A new gameplay method has been confirmed: players can now opt to use the "classic controller" instead of the Wiimote. Famitsu also describes the controls, like pressing A and B button to do right or left hooks, and can be combined with the D-pad to change the direction of the blows; basically it lets players control the boxer in as much the same way as previous Hajime no Ippo games.

Then there is the Story Mode, which will cover the events of the "Hajime no Ippo" manga up to Volume 78 (that's quite a lot). You either play as the manga's protagonist, Ippo Makunouchi, or newcomer Manabu Itagaki, who specializes in outboxing, and whose fighting style emphasizes speed. His special move makes opponents undergo slow motion, which lets him deliver more blows to the opponent.
The Story Mode has animation cutscenes interspersed in-between bouts. Our weblator says something like, "With cut-in demonstration, conversation and the like with the opponent is developed with full voice." This may mean that the cutscenes will be given a full voice-over treatment, as well. Nice treat for Hajime no Ippo fans, indeed.

Famitsu also shows the Tutorial Mode, where Hajime's coach Kamogawa trains you on how to deliver those punches using the Wiimote. The fact that he's shown holding the Wii mote instead of wearing gloves just puts a cool touch into the tutorial, don't you think?

Ippo's rival, Ichiro Miyata, is also introduced, but he's just there with Ryo Mashiba because of a scene from the manga and anime.

Well, stay tuned to QJ as we get more information on AQ Interactive's  boxing gem for the Nintendo Wii!

Many thanks to kcsega, who helped a lot in with translation!

Ippo in all his glory - Image 1If you thought Wii Sports Boxing was fun, Hajime no Ippo: Revolution! would blow your head off (unless you use something solid like the cross-block). Some low-budget games were released off the anime/manga series, but this one looks like a huge step up the ranks.

It wouldn't be surprising if the whole family started picking up their gloves Wiimotes and Nunchucks with Ippo's reiteration to the Wii. On the video we found, a kid is happily playing as his favorite boxers before his dad jumped in. At first, he gave tips to his son and even got worked up just by watching. We all know though, including his wife and daughter, that he wants a piece of the action.

Soon, the kid at heart tried his hand out at the game. Before he knew it, he was so absorbed that he was even fantasizing about being Ippo. "I wonder how it feels to be a champion," he said, before going into a Dempsey Roll rage.

The video also shows that there is a 2-player mode, something that we all want. Just make sure you're hitting the character on the screen, not the other player.

After working out a sweat (or if you're just lazy), you can change the controls to different modes. Either you want to just aim the Wiimote at the screen to execute attacks, or use the buttons like the classic Hajime no Ippo games, it's up to you.

Many of the characters will be included in the game, along with their unique fighting styles. You'll have to burn some time though, it won't be out 'til June 21 in Japan for 6,090 yen. We can only hope that it doesn't take ages before they ship the game outside Ippo's home.

Video follows right after you click Full Article!

Hajime No Ippo - Image 1

Here are some more images of the different fighting styles that you will see in AQ Interactive's Hajime No Ippo title for the Wii. Key to that knock-out punch would be the proper accumulation of the "shooting skill gauge" (thanks to Google translate -- you know what that means: may be inaccurate), which will tell you when is the perfect time to unleash that gloved killing machine.

So, for all you boxer-wannabes out there, take a good hard look at these screens, cos you just might pick up a thing or two about getting that one-two footwork right, along with getting that resounding punch -- hopefully, not on your face, but on your opponent's.
