Publisher 505 Games sent out word that Nintendo Wii owners can finally get their hands on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
as the title launches in North America this coming February 2008. It is
being developed by Arc System Works and is actually the third
installment of the successful franchise.Accent Core features a major graphical overhaul to make it more enticing to video gamers. Aside from that, the title also sports gameplay changes with the inclusion of never-before-seen moves such as Force Break, Slashback, and Slip Throws. The number of characters has been upped to 20 not to mention the alternate EX version for each. Of course, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core has also been made compatible with the Wii's motion-sensing controllers. Arc System Works mentioned that the normal and rather weak character moves are mapped in the Wiimote button while the stronger ones can be pulled off using the combination of the two. While waiting for the actual launch and other updates, just enjoy the screenshots below! See the other screenshots and artwork after the jump! |

Crazy anime-styled brawling action with just a hint of cross-gender weirdness in this Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for the Nintendo Wii gameplay update. Yes, the gang is back with their insane costumes and even more insane moves, and they're as off-beat and as quirky as ever. And Bridget is still a guy cross-dressing as a girl.
In this video, we see quite the one-sided match-ups playing out - the frail-looking Bridget, the sickly-looking A.B.A and the precocious May facing off against the game's tougher, more battle-hardened combatants. Unfortunately, things in Arc System Works' Guilty Gear universe is never what they seem, and these girls (and boy) prove that they can take care of their own just fine. Yo-yos, anchors and big giant demonic keys, oh my. Enjoy the videos! |

Armchair pugilists looking to get a head start over the competition, take notice: the website for the crazy smash-em-up fighter, Arc System's Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for the PlayStation 2 and Wii, has recently put up shop on the 'tubes and is now open for business. What's the best thing about it? One is that it's Guilty-freaking-Gear, and two is that it's all in English. Awesome! Looking at the site, there's a lot of content to browse over, with a good chunk of it being the character profiles and System info. The character profiles section gets you up-to-date on how your favorite Guilty Gear character is doing, his or her basic stats, and an easy-to-read move list. Definitely a good read for those of us who want a refresher on the complicated movements needed to perform the stylishly-crazy moves of the Guilty Gear cast. It's the same with the System section, only it's more of the neat tricks at your disposal no matter what character you're playing as - namely Roman Cancels, Throw Escapes, and the infamous Instant Kill maneuver. And for those of us who want our desktops to have more of a Guilty Gear XX Accent Core flavor, there's the Media and Downloads sections to loot, with videos, screenshots, wallpapers and even IM avatars. Now you can have that Bridget avatar you've always wanted! Yay! Rockstar witches, haiku-spouting vampires, a one-armed, one-eyed samurai - what's not to like about Guilty Gear XX Accent Core? Not a very whole lot. Updates as we get them, and you can check out the actual website at the read link we've provided below. |

Bridget cosplay and quite a healthy amount of gameplay coming for you in this Guilty Gear XX Accent Core video update for the Nintendo Wii. We get you a closer look at what's up with the fighting game that features hardcore anime influences and wicked-looking Instant Kill attacks. In this video, we see Game-Watch paying a visit to the legendary Arc System Works studio to get a hands-on look at the game. The host, oddly enough, chose Bridget to cosplay as - and while we won't argue that it looks cute on her, someone probably forgot to tell her that Bridget's of the male gender. Regardless, the brave interviewer charges on with the questions, and we see tantalizing bits of gameplay, as well as some of the menu screens we'll be navigating through. Unfortunately, the video's not embeddable, so you'll have to click on the Read link to actually view it. Enjoy! |

Guilty Gear fans rejoice! Not only is Arc System Works' Guilty Gear XX Accent Core - the latest title in the ultra-slick fighter with heavy anime influences - coming over to the US, it's going to have a completely retuned system. That means the crippling bugs in the Japanese PS2 version will be completely done away with come the game's stateside release some time this year. Featuring new modes, new characters, and controls that take full advantage of the Nintendo Wii's motion-sensing capabilities, armchair pugilists should definitely sit up and watch out for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core - not to mention the fact that the game itself is looking flashier than ever. And with all the bells and whistles that come with every new Guilty Gear release, any joystick jockey will be hard at work forming new strategies and attack plans. Certainly good news for those of us still loyal to the off-beat world of Guilty Gear. Updates as we get them, and in the meantime, why not enjoy these screenshots? More screenshots after the jump! |

If you're eager to see more of Arc System's Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core for the Wii, then the screens below (thank you JeuxFrance) should be rewarding. Behold, Ky Kiske, Sol Badguy, nice snazzy 2D effects, and the infamous "Destroyed" message! Now is it just us or did Order Sol's sword get a little bigger? Probably just us. We'll play through a few round of XX Slash again and if we figure out the difference we'll let you know. Seriously though, remember that we said that the game should allow competitors to choose the mode of their character? There's a screenshot up there that should give a clue on how that works. We still don't know though how they figured out how to make a match between a GGX mode and a GG mode a fair fight. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is set to hit Japanese retail on the 26th of July. Will it see a North American release? Who cares? Fans who dig stuff like this import anyways. |

Aside from the Force Break attacks that we've previously reported on, ARC System Work's Guilty Gear: Accent Core for the Wii has several new gameplay additions to the franchise. IGN reports that now, when you select your character, you can also select a battle system from previous Guilty Gear titles. It wasn't made clear as to how mixing systems from previous installments will affect gameplay balance, but it does sound intriguing. As for the controls, IGN confirms that there will be support for the Classic Controller, so all you purists will be able to relax a bit. For those of you willing to experiment, shaking the Wiimote and Nunchuck performs standard attacks, while shaking in a certain manner while holding the buttons performs special attacks. The Guilty Gear franchise is known for continuing the 2D fighting tradition in this 3D fighting game era, by implementing crisp animations, having a killer heavy metal soundtrack, and including a robust and intricate combat system. It will be interesting to see what motion sensing via the Wiimote will contribute to the massively popular franchise. |
