Well, if you do feel a bit of motion sickness while playing shooters on the Wii, you're not alone. It seems folks from Destructoid are also feeling the same problems.During one of Destructoid's weekly podcasts, one of them brought it up. "It's weird, because it only happens in CoD 3 and Red Steel on the Wii," says Destructoid crew member Robert. "I've never had this issue with any other game on any other system ever." Depending on how susceptible you are to general feelings of queasiness, that might actually happen to you if you spend too much time playing FPS games. If we're lucky, it might just be an adjustment phase to FPS play using the new control system. It's a lot like what happens when you introduce newbies to FPS games, except even hardcore gamers with inner ear troubles can get schooled by the control scheme. Do you have your own stories of Wii and Wiimote-induced motion sickness? Let us know. It might just be a bad epidemic, like the flu, or the Chuck Norris meme. |

This was supposed to be quick one. No quotes like "a picture paints as thousand words" or anything like that. But more than just simply amazing, the picture above is quite intriguing. There's really no telling the lengths fans are willing to go to for their beloved games. Call of Duty 3 (X360, PS3, Wii), as we have just seen, is no exception. CoD 3 has always been pitted against Epic Games' Gears of War. Maybe it's because the two are from the same genre. Or maybe the rivalry sprouted from the engines the two games have? In all fairness to Activision, their title came out first. If our memory serves us right, the first title of the series came out during the later period of 2003. GoW, on the other hand, has only been around for weeks. Also, we would like to see how far GoW would go. It was mentioned a couple of weeks ago, by no less than Mark Rein himself, that they are willing to make sequels as long as fans want it. On the other hand, there has been hushed talks circulating about CoD 4 even this early. Oh well, we reckon that this is just a friendly competition. We wonder if GoW fans have some mice stories or pictures to show like the ones above. These are, after all, for the love of the game. Gamestation in the UK are apparently selling the Wii version
of Call of Duty 3 earlier than the official release date (12/08/06). This is an
entire week before the release of the game that this game is being placed upon
these retail shelves, and a reader (Lan) from Go Nintendo has provided some
"evidence" about this case of an early release. Many stores have done
this in the past (mainly Walmart and Target in the US), but looks like some hardcore
CoD fans can pick up the Wii version early! |

Call of Duty 3 (PS3, Wii, Xbox360) is hands down one of the most kickass titles around, and if you still haven't gotten a copy of the Wii version, shame on you. Kidding! Hahaha! Seriously though, there's no reason why you shouldn't be dashing (if you haven't already, that is) to your local retail stores for a copy.
Why? Let's see, aside from being hailed as one of the top five must-have Wii titles, the game features a realistic feel of being immersed in WWII (kudos to Lieutenant Colonel Hank Keirsay who served as the game's advisor), 24-player multiplayer modes, way destructive weapons and brusque vehicles, and, and...sorry, I'm just gushing now. So instead of torturing you guys with my incessant raving for CoD 3, we'll just let you check out this vid which shows how you'll get to work the Wiimote when pulling off those duck and shoot stunts in the middle of the battlefield. And if you still haven't grabbed a copy yet, hopefully this vid will help you decide. Enjoy! |

Playsyde was recently able to score an interview with Rich Farrelly, Creative Director for Call of Duty 3 (Xbox360, Wii, PS3), where they talk about the inspiration and influences behind the game, vehicles, soldier interaction, multiplayer modes and tons more. In an earlier article, we told you guys that Activision has shipped COD3 for the Wii and PS3, and some of you guys may even be playing the game already, but for those who still haven't gotten their new Nintendo and/or Sony console, read on to find out what's in store for you when you get your hands on the game. On game advisors: They sought the help of Lieutenant Colonel Hank Keirsay, military veteran, to advise them on how the game should look and play out. Through Keirsay, they were able to contact four other veterans who were actually among the soldiers that are portrayed in the game. Cool, huh? This, according to Farrelly, ensured the accuracy of the details they brought to the game. On multiplayer modes: The game will support up to 24 players (for those versions that support multiplayer) which is "far beyond any previous Call of Duty game on console." There are six gameplay modes: Capture the Flag, a new One Flag mode, Battle and Team Battle (which are much like the Deathmatch modes), and they also put back the Headquarters mode from previous CoD titles. An all-new mode called War is also featured in the game, which Farrelly describes as "a kind of progressive Capture the Flag mode." How it works: "...in a level there will be five flags and you have to fight over the middle one and then once someone holds that position it becomes like a kind of American football game, with both sides advancing and pushing back on the front." On vehicles: There will be SAS assault jeeps loaded with machine guns which you can jump into and free drive - all with your squadmates firing at the enemy while you drive and E-brake around corners. And for even more mayhem, your enemies will be able to do the same too. Meaning, there will be enemies in tanks, sidecars, motorcycles, etc. who will be shooting at you while you drive or fire at them. Farrelly also says that the multi-occupancy feature of the vehicles adds a whole new dimension to gameplay. On future plans for CoD: Farrelly says they just finished working on CoD 3 so they're still pretty much concentrating on that but they are starting to brainstorm on their next project. Farrelly also shares that "WW2 certianly isn’t tapped out, but that’s not to say there aren’t more possibilities out there." And when asked whether it's possible that CoD will be taken out of the WWII setting, Farrelly neither confirms nor denies it. Looks like we're gonna have to watch out for more updates and announcements for this. |

Activision announced today that their launch games for both the Wii and PS3 have shipped to retail stores nationwide and are already up for grabs. The following games from the company's lineup are now in stores:
Yeah, we know, these games would mean absolutely nothing without the consoles, but wouldn't you want to get a head start before everyone starts flocking to stores for these games? And for the lucky few who already have their Wii's and PS3's, go grab these games now! (Or maybe after you're done drooling over your beautiful consoles...?) |

We've all had those moments of absolute tension, such as those times when we're playing a fighting game or boxing sim and end up physically dodging the virtual blow because our character couldn't do it. Some of you might even have gone so far as to pushing your controller forward during a frenzied attempt at katamari-rolling greatness. It's rather unexpected for someone to physically reel from the screen as a result of FPS action, however. Either the guy in this next video had way too much caffeine before the shooting of this promo or he's genuinely feeling very tense from playing Call of Duty 3 with motion sensing technology. The next video features some frenzied gameplay, as is standard for most FPS games. Playing an FPS on Wii ends up looking like an even more involving experience, since just about everything from shooting to reloading has an associated action. Heck, if you're going as far as thrusting the remote forward to whack someone in the head with the butt of a rifle, then it probably has to feel very tense to any gamer, even one paid to do an ad. If you can imagine someone rotating your arm in real-time to use the virtual crank that aims an anti-tank cannon or shaking the Wiimote while you're in a struggle with an enemy NPC, then Activision's WWII shooter is probably right up your alley. Enjoy the video, but if you're getting both the Wii and this game, don't get too carried away, alright? Download: [Call of Duty 3 Wii Gameplay] |

As one of the top five must-have release titles for the Wii, Activision's Call of Duty 3 is also among one of the more anticipated games in the PS3, 360, and PC. We haven't seen much of the gameplay for the Wii version of this title, so as the gears of war (pun intended) are turning in other gaming circles, we can't simply let this video sneak past our eyes.
The video shows a sampling of how frenetic this game is. After all, you're in a war zone. Didn't your momma ever tell you to always run for cover? In this game, as with any war shooter, you can't just go gung-ho a-la Rambo and run madly around the battlefield. Shoot and duck. Duck and shoot. You sure have to keep your wits about you. Fail to do so and... Well, let's just say that if you watch the video all the way to the end, you'll find out. Yeah, we've actually wondered what getting killed by a grenade would look and feel like. Now at least we know... to an extent, that is. If you're curious as well, just click that triangular button thingy below. |
