Necro-Nesia

Just a few days ago, we saw a trailer for Spike's upcoming survival horror game Necro-Nesia. Today, IGN posted some screenshots of the Wii game. As of now, there's not much info on the game, except that there's going to be a lot of creepy crawlies in it.

Although the screens are pretty small, you can see a little of what is to come, such as the characters that you will be interacting with, and some of the freakishly huge bugs you'll have to put down. Even though there is no release date for the game yet, go ahead and check out the screenshots by clicking on the thumbnails below. We'll be sure to keep you informed once we get our hands on more updates, so stay tuned.

Best Buy

A user from the NeoGAF forums by the name of Mrbob has posted a supposed copy of Best Buy's Strategic planning calender from their Planning Seminar for Playstation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 and PSP. The Playstation 3 and Wii section of the slide mentions the dates that the Kiosks will be in stores as well as dates for marketing strategies. So IF this is true the Playstation 3 kiosk should be rolled out on October 20th following with the Wii 's kiosk on October 29th.

It also looks like that when the PS3 and Wii hit it will make the 360 get "pushed" back to shelf display although they are adding an HD-DVD drive to the display. The only text that sticks out for the PSP is the start of the "Play Beyond" wireless marketing campaign. Just a reminder that this is in no way official and the only way to find out if it is true is to wait until the dates listed above. So go ahead and check out the image above by clicking the thumbnail and when the dates come in late October check your local Best Buy to see if the kiosks are there.

Wii game case

Well pictures of the Wii DVD game cases have finally surfaced over at DarkZero and they look exactly like DVD cases can you believe it? The only main difference is that they have that slick white look of the DS. Nintendo has been known for having a place to put your memory card alongside with your game in their Gamecube game cases and even Sony picked up the idea later on with their PS2 game cases after they saw how handy it was to store the memory cards, but according to the pictures it is no longer there.

It looks like you might have to have the SD memory card rattling around with no place to go because the extra storage spot is gone. Who knows though, maybe they'll end up putting it back into the cases before launch. So if your interested in seeing the game cases in all their glory go ahead and check out the images by clicking on the thumbnails below and let us know what you think of their simple yet effective design.

Ó

necNEC Electronics today announced that Nintendo Co., Ltd. has selected NEC Electronics' 90-nanometer CMOS-compatible embedded DRAM (eDRAM) technology for the Wii. Designed to provide advanced graphics functions for this new gaming platform, the new system LSI chips with eDRAM will be manufactured using advanced technologies on NEC Yamagata's 300-millimeter production lines.

Embedded DRAM technology integrates DRAM on the same chip with logic circuits, and is viewed as an optimal solution for three-dimensional graphics acceleration systems and other applications that need to process high bandwidth data using low power. The adoption of these eDRAM ASICs for Nintendo's new game console is a clear vote of confidence in NEC Electronics' eDRAM technology and hopefully will help out the Wii when it comes out this fall.

Ó

xboxliveAccording to Webpronews a recently approved patent for Nintendo could lead to lawsuits against other game console manufacturers. The patent was originally filed in 2000 and is for a videogame instant messaging system. The patent covers a chat system that involves a remotely stored buddy list, allows for multiple statuses, and could broadcast information about gaming activities. It would also display alerts when new e-mail is received, enable the transmission of player preferences, and allow for communication through either voice or text messages.

Two aging products, the Nintendo64 and the Game Boy Color, are mentioned in the patent, but there is speculation that the system could be implemented in the upcoming Wii. It may also serve as a bartering chip against software giant Microsoft. It looks as though Microsoft's Xbox Live system may infringe upon Nintendo's new patent.

If so, Nintendo could try to reach a cross-licensing deal that would allow it to delve into areas covered by some of Microsoft's patents. Sony is another potential target if Nintendo tries to pursue the matter. It's possible that nothing will come of this. It's also possible that we'll see a voice chat-enabled Wii, and a huge court battle between Nintendo and Microsoft. Of course, there are a few likelihoods that fall between those potential outcomes.

If anyone does cause a dispute out of this it would be very weird for Microsoft as being a member of Xbox Live since it first came out I know that the messaging system that Microsoft has in place is one of the best things the Xbox and the 360 has going for it and I couldn't imagine Xbox Live without it. Hopefully all the online gaming systems will have their own "Xbox Live" and be just as great. Go ahead and give us your thoughts about these rumors by commenting after the jump.
