Jaysus, that's a huge b**ch!!! - Image 1 Jaysus, that's a huge b**ch!!! - Image 2

It was bound to happen, and it did. Ladies and gentlemen, we now have an addition to the hit list of Wiinjuries and other accidents caused by a Wii. And it's Tuxedo Jack of the Something Awful forums, whose TV suffered something doggone awful when the wrist strap failed while his friend was Wii Bowling. ZOMGZ.

Okay, all schadenfreude and jokes aside, this Wiimote might as well hit the guy in the sensitive parts of the body. That is a big-a**ed crack on a 60" rear-projection TV. And this isn't some case of carelessness from a guy with clammy hands: Tuxedo Jack clearly started that his friend was using the Wiimote strap. And, as evidenced by the pictures below, the strap did fail. According to Jack, at around the 300th bowl that his friend took. Ouch.

You broke my TV! You b*****d! - Image 1 You broke my TV! You b*****d! - Image 2

Suddenly those Wiinjuries don't look so funny anymore. Imagine if that was an LCD flat-screen TV. Or if it was (take your pick): your parents, your sister, your grandparents, your girlfriend, your brand new car, your pet dog or cat, your entire rock-and-roll collection, Natalie Portman, or your Wii. You may want to think about watching or reinforcing those wrist straps.

Yeah right. Look at that wiimote strap..."oh it just came a part". I have a wii and that controller's strap would not just fray apart like that a day after use....bull crap...the guy was dumb...threw his controller at his TV and is trying to cover it up.

 » .

u can tell that the strap was clean cut with something sharp, that tv probably had that scratch, mine has a scrach similar to that done by moving furniture into the house. nobody is that stupid to just throw the wiimote even if its bowling, and the strap is pretty damn sturdy if u ask me. i dont depend on the wistrap though to keep the wiimote in my hand so its good to always keep a good grip on it.

Nah, I think that's lied. They may knew and want you to know something. I think they saw those Wiinjuries things and want an attention. They knew better about those things are dangerous and they do it anyway. STUPID ASS!

If anyone bothered to read the original post on the forums, you would notice that HE DIDN'T LET GO OFF THE CONTROLLER. They had been playing for some crazy amount of time (12 hours or something to that effect) and the sweat on his hands caused the ejected Wiimote.

No-one is dumb enough to let go off the thing mid swing. The only person who is dumb is the person who belives that someone did!

who da ***** lets go of their remote while playing a game? Its his own *****ing fault

Or this is just a ploy by microsoft, or sony to lower the Sparking Wii's reputation, by trying to make a non existant problem outshine their multiple crashing systems...

 » Rule #1

Always Strap On.

That sucks and it was bound to happen. Also for the first 3 posts, it looks like you 3 just want to cover this up and to make the Wii look like a perfect system. MISTAKES HAPPEN. Maybe the person who was playing got to engaged into the game and let go of the controller by mistake. When I play Wii Sports my wrist strap keeps loosening up and have to tighten it constantly. People have to start getting careful before someone gets seriously injured.

 » I don't doubt this.

I had a strap break today. My friend was playing baseball and the strap broke without him even letting go of the control (he thinks his other hand snagged it on a swing or something). The cord seems kinda cheap to me. My brother made a rubber band strap as a temp, and its definitely stronger.

No one can sue nintendo for any kind of dammage what so ever.

If the strap did break, it is still the same as any other remote controller, meaning if it flew out of your own hand, you did not have a good enough grip, or were fooling around. Therefore, the blame can be placed entirely on the 'dammager', since a strap breaking in no way affects the person him/herself letting go of the remote in the first place.

Dumbass' of the world : PWNED
Sony fanboys wanting to point out flaws in a flawless system : PWNED
Dumbass' who want to sue sony : PWNED
Dumbass' in general : PWNED!!!!!!!!

u dont even need to make a full motion to get the wii to recognize it. i read on ign a couple of months ago that wrist movement would do the trick. this guy must be the biggest artard

i have a wii, you dont have to use extreme effort to work it. some games with just a flick of the wrist is fine. can you sue the knife company if you cut yourself? it's stupid people that keeps america from getting full featured products because theyre always suing because of their incompetence. you spilled hot ass coffee on yourself? its your fricken fault.    Re: Jake (Unregistered) - 2006-11-21
 » Why Post This?

I guess he wants people making fun of him. I play Wii Sports tennis, baseball and bowling just like I would with the actual sport, so I put a lot of force and follow-thru into it. Yet, even though I don't use the wrist strap, I still somehow manage to not let go of the controller. Amazing! Even more unbelievable, when I play tennis and my hands are all sweaty, my racket doesn't suddenly go flying out of my hand at high velocity every so often. I guess I'm just special. Obviously we need tough wrist straps for racquets, bats, golf clubs...and we should at least have a protective shield behind bowlers at the alley (though admit kids do sometimes through the ball backward...haha kids).
   by Ithink (Unregistered) - 2006-11-21
 » well

If he lets go(which MUST happen for it to fly), and even if teh strap breaks, I think it would break when it hits your arm, and thus, reducing the flying speed. This can't be an accident. It is jsut some idiot trying to get some big money. Like those americans putting their wet cats into microwaves, who the f*ck seriously does that, huh?

 » even if...

who lets sweat build up on their hands to the point where something can fly out of them? i'm always wiping my hands on my pants in heated battles in halo 2...

maybe thats why the wii suggests you take a break every hour or so?

actually you have to hold the B button on the back to bowl, i'd imagine you'd have to dip your hands in cooking oil to get a "slip" like that.

 » That's not fake

I don't think that's fake. My strap broke too and it looks a lot like that. Fortunately my Wiimote didn't break anything...

how do your straps break? my nephew and niece constantly tug of war on it to get the wiimote from eacother and its still pretty solid.
   by sakura (Unregistered) - 2006-11-21
 » .

also where is the guys nunchuku? that thing should have helped slow down the speed of the flying wiimote (if it even flew to begin with) also the scratches direction and the fact its on the top right side of the tv screen shows it cant possible have been the wiimote unless he did and upward stroke at the screen. and the wiimote also doesnt have any sharp edges to slide into the platic used to cover big screen tv's (ive got a few on mine caused by sharp edges) the wiimote slides off other plastic objects regardless of the speed.

wii bowling does not require the nunchuck attachment. in fact, it does not allow you to have it connected.

» He's not the only one

My roommate did this exact same thing. The strap failed, and the Remote went flying into the (glass) TV. He was playing Wii Bowling. No damage was incurred, except for an extremely small indent in the front top right corner of the Remote and a busted gut because of laughter.

 » Plenty Of Hate

There's much hate back and fourth on a subliminal level, as to which is better than the other.

My Personal Opinion...

The Strap DOES look cut. The story sounds like there's some faults in it. And the possibilities I think are...

1)The guy is a hardcore PS3/XBOX3 360 gamer who is hating on the Wii like many others (and that's visa versa too there are planty of Wii hater out there too)

2)The Guy was too embarrassed, and though it would make a good post the way he told it.

or

3)The Guy might have had a younger family member that did something "bad"

Nevertherless...this is my take on the system Wiimote and the brands out there.

Nintendo has always focused on making some sort of innovative controller from way back. There concern seemed more about gameplay and a fun factor than graphics, Network gaming Large Libraries.

Microsoft had focused on the "LIVE" realtime play and it shows with their content thats downloadable.

and

Sony well..they are exactly what the other 2 brand lack...the graphic and sound quality are amazing as well as their Library.

My brother hit the coffee table when playing wii bowling, and the wii-mote flew into our 52inch rear projection tv and put a huge hole in it. You guys are retarded to think people are making these things up. Acidents happen and people want to belive with normal play they're not going to. We chalked it up as a loss and had to take the tv to the dumpster. It also but some nice chips in the wii-mote lol
