Nintendo Wii - Image 1Nintendo has rolled out a small update for the Nintendo Wii. The update mostly involves cosmetic changes along with more preparation for the DSi's release.

NeoGAF member Cheesemeister was kind enough to post a translation of the update's changelog. Check it out below.
  • Wii Points will soon be called Nintendo Points, and all references as such will be updated. All other functionality with Nintendo Points will remain the same.
  • The controller usage explanation screen will be updated.
  • The controller usage explanation screen will be separated from the purchase screen. Along with this, the user will be prompted to confirm that they have any necessary accessories before being able to press the Purchase button.
  • The design of the icons displayed will be updated.
We haven't heard anything yet on how this update affects the Homebrew Channel. If you want to keep enjoying 'brew on your Wii, it would probably be better if you don't update yet.

Needs to fix what? The Homebrew Channel?

What for? The Homebrew Channel is none of their business and my Wii doesn't belong to them therefore I can do whatever I please to it.

Nintendo has no say in what I do to the products I buy from them. They might like to think they do, but I've paid my money, so they can piss off.

They Homebrew Channel is fantastic, and it hurts absolutely no one. The Virtual Console was a terrible idea to begin with, selling their old games over again. I mean, how greedy do you get?!

This way, I can play my new Wii games and my old NES/SNES games all on the same system without having to pay EXTRA for my old games.

» No effort from Nintendo? Suprise.

What a worthless update! They could make at least some attempt to offer something new other than icons and slightly redesigned purcasing. WOW Nintendo!!!! Oh yeah new security to block homebrew too.

You'd think Nintendo could make Wii and DS points interchangeable since they're called NINTENDO points now, but no.
